My imagination fails
Mar 19 2007  on content Vary window effects with focus level

I am having trouble imagining what this is supposed to look like. A mock-up up of what you imagine this to look like would help.

Oct 1 2006  on content Konqueror Split Page browsing

If I understand correctly, what he is saying is that it would be nice to have the tabs effect the split panes. So I could have three or four tabs and then assign them to different panes by activating the pane and then switching the tab. I think that would be great since panes are of limited usefulness to me as they are restricted to the tab they were created on (I can't put the contents of tab 2 into the bottom pane of tab 1).

Sep 2 2006  on Discussion

My computer's a POS and SVG images take quite a while (a few seconds) to load when they are as big as a wallpaper. So what I do instead is just open the SVG image in GIMP and export it to PNG. You get the same beautiful picture without the overhead (plus the SVG renderer for the wallpapers never does as good a job for some reason).

Great Work.
May 15 2006  on content Serenity

I love the style. It looks great and is genuinely unique looking. It even works really well with the GTK-QT engine (alot of styles cause serious problems with it).

I would like to use the WinDeco since It also looks great, but I have gotten used to knifty's ability to have the top right corner of the screen be counted as the close button when maximized and so am reluctant to switch.

More than that.
Apr 30 2006  on content Truely opensource background

If you release an image under the GPL then you need to give out the preferred form for creation as well (in the case of a GIMP'ed image that would be the .xcf, for a Photoshop image it would be the .psd). But even beyond that, you need to include a copy of the GPL with the image. Which is something which very few if any images here supposedly under the GPL, do.

Sounds great but..
Apr 27 2006  on content amarok knotify

How do I use this? I downloaded it and ran the script but it doesn't do anything. Help would be apreciated.

Wow
Apr 25 2006  on content Serenity

I love this style. It fits in perfectly with my desktop and manages to look both soft and defined at the same time (something I haven't seen done well before).

PS
The ability to change the mouseover color for buttons really makes the style stand out and mesh with non-single-color backgrounds and color themes. I wish more styles included that feature.

2D works fine.
Apr 21 2006  on content 3D Desktop

I may be totally off base or out of touch but I really don't see a need to make the desktop even more complex. I am not speaking from an ease of learning standpoint but from an efficiency and usability standpoint. Sifting through a 3-dimensional environment via a 2-dimensional interface is a pain.

The current taskbar works well. It may not be the prettyest thing around but it does it's job better than any other system I have seen before. Your idea seems, to me, to be just an elaborate "iconify window" function with a faux-3D screen shot instead of an icon. The taskbar was created for a reason: to make it so you don't have to minimize your current window just to find out how to maximize another.

Auothide hinderance
Jan 23 2006  on content Hiding the File Menu

It is very stylish and frees up viewing space but it is pretty impractical to have something so often used be auto hidden. I agree that something could be done to help free up that space and make everything look better but making it that much harder to use just doesn't seem worth it to me.

Maybe a simple global mouse gesture or key sequence could be used to toggle the menubar instead of autohide? It would get rid of the difficulties of keeping the mouse steady and the screen shifting just because you move your mouse over an area.

Just my 2¢.

Jan 16 2006  on content Polar Cursor Theme

This is a bug with the way KDE extracts the tarball. If you extract it yourself and move the folder to the cursors folder (~/.icons I believe) it should fix the problem.
