Media Access Controllers?
Nov 9 2009  on content Orange_MAC

I don't see what this has to do with ethernet chipsets... I'm confused.

YAY!
Nov 7 2009  on content xcur2png

As far as I can tell this is the only application in existence that allows you to preview the idiotic Xcursor format.

Sure, having to run a command line tool to convert the theme into another format just to see what it looks like is pathetically inconvenient compared to any other operating system ever conceived but at least your utility makes it actually possible.

You should pat yourself on the back for being vastly more intelligent than anyone else who has ever had anything to do with the ridiculous one-way imaging format that is Xcursor.

I'm not sure how you managed to be immune to the common-sense sapping radiation emitted by this format, but you're clearly a superman among chimps!

Re: how to...
Oct 27 2009  on content It's a desktop.

I'm using QGtkStyle which is a part of newer versions of Qt, if you're using Ubuntu you can get a package from Martin Espinoza's PPA

https://launchpad.net/~martin-espinoza/+archive/ppa

If you're not using Ubuntu, or hate doing things the easy way you can download it from the Qt website and build it yourself (providing that you have all the dev packages for Qt4 installed).

So cool! :)

Not exactly a state-of-the-art the art theme but it really does a good job of reminding me of using old SGI and DEC machines.

In my opinion you really hit the mark with this theme and deserve a pat on the back, no matter what the votes say.

Re: folder structure
Mar 1 2009  on content gekos-iTunes (LEOPARD)

What you're referring to is "Column View" in MacOS X Finder, and more generically referred to as "Miller Columns" by interface designers.

Unfortunately the answer to your question is a big fat no, the developers of Nautlius aren't enthusiastic about the idea of implementing them either since they like the way only one folder's contents appear at a time and don't fancy the prospect of re-plumbing Nautlus' internals to allow more.

On Linux, Columns made a brief appearance in early versions of Thunar (XFCE's file manager), but were scrapped before release.

KDE 4's Dolphin file manager has a "Column View" mode that is very similar to Finder, but the KDE 3 version doesn't.

Holy Wars
Nov 3 2008  on group Divided we Fail

Before you condemn the Holy Wars too much, consider this...

People fight over these things because they care, developers even more so, because for them it is a matter of pride.

Those who you see pouring the most scorn on other platforms are those who care the most. We need to find a way to assist people to turn negative attitudes into positive evangelism for their chosen platform.

If (for example) you believe that KDE is better than Gnome, but that Gnome gets too much attention from the press, then the negative course of action is to complain and pour scorn on Gnome. The positive course of action is to do what you can to whip up excitement about KDE. Demonstrate it's capabilities on YouTube, write letters to magazine editors, comment on blogs.

We can't afford to alienate those who respond most vehemently to trolls spewing misinformation, because they're the people with the most emotionally invested in these platforms.

A more sophisticated version of "turn that frown around" is the best approach to those who seem to be "haters". Most of the time, what they really hate are trolls and FUD.

thanks for taking the time to leave feedback. I hope the theme works well for you.

Any chance, of, you know... actually making the theme available?

Awesome theme
Jan 10 2006  on content Blended

I really like the smooth look from the menubar to the toolbar, and the lack of coloured 'tips' on tabs like on XP clone themes.

I'm using the QtCurve unified theme to achieve consistency between Gtk1/2 & Qt applications, and I've trimmed off the sides of the blended theme to make it look a little 'lighter', but your look is really very similar to my desktop right now, except better. :)

If I wasn't constantly using applications that use different toolkits, I'd switch to your theme in a second.

Go the fully blended themes!
