Especially the part "copy, modify, distribute, display"

Develop further..?

I like the idea. But how about taking it a step further and integrating to Konqueror context menu. "Add to download que" and it would then download them in the background to a default directory, with the same enumeration as you have here?-)

Oh, and forgot: why KDE4?

We are remaking the desktop. Why not remake the KDE?

Because KDE is not just an intgrated desktop environment-it's a way of life!-)

More seriously: KDE is knit to the net. There is a community of various kinds of people contributing to KDE in different ways. While the KDE is becoming more Solid on the desktop, the community services are left wiithout care. Not only is this an imbalance between good desktop and terrible networking, I'm afraid it might become an obstacle - unless it already is one - for new people coming to the community: as developers, artists, users, whatever.

Looking it from the promotion point of view: many people get to know KDE by our website. Then they look at the Gnome website. And think: "Hmm.. I wonder which looks better..."

Just occured to me, wouldn't this be a nice candidate for Googles SoC?-)

KParts?
Apr 25 2006  on content Konqueror generic sidebar

Somehow this really sounds like extended kparts usage..?
