Hey there, I really like the idea, however I think there's one bog problem with it.
The taskbar, presumably what you would click on to activate this, is still on top of it. What if you clicked and draged the menu up from the bottom. Think of it like a sheet of paper that it mostl off the screen. You pull the visible part and the rest is revealed, then you get to store it way again.
I think it would be neat... |

Yes, this thing reminded me instantly of that famous OS, MS Bob (where do you think that anooying search dog and that red button (that inspired 'Clippy the forsaken anooyance') came from?
Melinda French, now Melinda Gates, had an idea for an easy to use desktop, and since Bill did it, now they can't kill off the legacy of the failure (because they're married now) so Bill makes her feel better by having elemnts of Bob in all current windows software.
If you want this kind of 3D desktop under linux, check out http://www.opencroquet.org/ . Not only is is 3D and all, but also online and collaborative, multiple users can share the same space at the same time even - far beyond this simple mockup. Check it out. |

Hey guys. We are passionate about what we believe in. Never before on this website, have I seen SOOO many good, well thought out posts.
Obviously this is more the kind of thing this board was made for.
Of course people are gonna be mad at it, but others will love it. The only way to please everybody, without offending anybody is to make it shallow.
By the way, I was glad you typed that whole story out. I never jnew that this was the story and main inspiration of the song: Soul Fire, by Christafari.

Hey, guve him a chance. I think those pictures are beautiful. If you shot 3 nice pictures, YOU might put them all in a zip folder, but nobody would dlownload it, because it nobody would see it.
I think those pictures, particularily the last one, are truly beautiful, and it's a shame that people can't appreciate it.

No, unfortunately I can't. In order to make the pill look the way it does, I used two seperate greens. If I made it a grascale semi-transperent pill, it would have a strong colourbut not look 3D.
If you want a specific color, e-mail me, or if you want the ability to change the colour, I have an idea brewing. I will make one like this soon. Maybe callit a mood ring, and have a transparent jewel. A slogan something like "Linux, changes with your moods".
Might work...I'll see about that one. |
