METADATA!!!
Jul 26 2006  on content Koolforms

As I said before, all this stuff could be acomplish with metadata. It would be great to have a virtualfs so we can add files tags, keywords, related info, etc. And giving this ability would open the way to a great variety of amazing things. I think the most important thing is to get an api to interact with this sort of things that could do fast searchs.

Sorry by my "tech" language, I'm not a developer! Just throwing some ideas...

Metadata?!
Jul 20 2006  on content Clip your files

This could be done with metada maybe? You could asign "tags" to files, for example "research about nuclear fusion" and then you could create virtual folders with for example all the html files with the "research about nuclear fusion" tag, and let kde do the search of this files and show them together in the folder. This would be great and a very important improvement in the way we work.

Dont miss the point
Jul 13 2006  on content KDE Official Distro

I think it is a good idea. You could get a nice looking installation process, with bootsplash, etc... It could be great for the begginers...

But I think there are a lot of distros already dedicated to kde, like kubuntu or even opensuse (despite the last release that has gnome too). Even if you want something really optimize and build for kde use Gentoo... I'm using it right know and believe me, it is damn fast, and pretty lightweight in ram (in Debian Sarge KDE used to consume two times the ram it consumes here in gentoo).

And doing this will consume a LOOOTTT of human hours in a not usefull target. I think KDE developers have already a LOT of work to cope with just with kde! So to add another thing to develop, mantain, etc would be totally wrong, IMHO!

Re: why

Do you say this because of what i said? If that's the case, i dont want another windows. I just admit that windows is much better than linux in handling streaming video

Keep things simple
Jul 3 2006  on content amaroK Video Capable [MockUp]

I prefer things to be simple and fast. For example, the 99% of the time I'm listening to music with amarok, the ohter 1% of the time watching movies with kaffeine... so... why I have to use a bloated All-in-one media center just for playing some mp3? It's useless to have things loaded in memory that you just use the 1% of the time.

However, video support in linux really sucks, specially streaming video. I would really like to see improvement in that way. Kaffeine is ok, it should be kept getting better, and more integrated with konqueror. Web multimedia experiencie in linux is waaay behind Windows. I want to click on "Last news micro" on my online newspaper and see the video inside konqueror... I dont want kaffeine to pop up with a los of errors about xine and demuxes not found...
