Re: Re: Re:

Just log out and log in to KDE and you see what I mean - if the libaries are stored in the Ram the login is much faster.
And this is just what I want to happen even if no DE is loaded - while the user enters his password, some common libaries are loaded in background.

Re: Re:

I don't know if this is possible, but doesn't readahead provide a similar function?
Maybe, if it is possible, there could be a "standard" of freedesktop how to preload so that the system preloads the desktop environment the user has selected. (And most people prefer to use the same DE everytime they log in)

And even if the last thing cannot be done - KDE could only be loaded if KDE is selected so it is less time for KDE and equal time for other DEs.
And btw.: no matter how optimized KDE will be - using this it could be faster.

Just a question
May 13 2007  on content Linux for every one

Just a question: Why have you made this screenshot with Windows XP & MS Visual C++ on your desktop?

Do you really want to provoke that much?

Re: optional
Mar 28 2007  on content Using Edges & Corners

Yes, it should really be optional. Personally I always get angry when I move my mouse cursor up to the right upper corner and all the windows are downsized (so I deactivate it) - but there should be somethings you can click on in the corners.

Idea sensible?
Mar 28 2007  on content Vary window effects with focus level

no, I don't think this is really sensible ... Personally, i am rather confused when looking at these stacking windows.
I would rather favour seeing different levels of saturation than of transparency.

.
Usability?
Mar 28 2007  on content 3D toolbars

I don't think these 3d-scrollbars would provide better usability: You had to scroll for every function. Tabs provide a much better way because they only require one click more and you know what you have to expect. Using scrolling toolbars, you need much time to figure out how long you have to scroll until the toolbar you want is reached.
And, as an addition: Tabs are used in many KDE applications already, for example quanta uses tabs for the insertion of tags, and I think quanta is older than MS Office 2007 :-)

Like MacOS
Mar 28 2007  on content KDE4 Simple Style

In my opinion especially the first screenshot looks like the graphical user interface of MacOS but better copy from MacOS than copy from Windows Vista :-)
