Description:

The DarkPlastik style is a modification of the Plastik style to work with darker color schemes. Basically it uses the selected background color to draw the edges of widgets rather than using the background color and making it lighter or darker. Just look at the screenshots, they explain better. The color schemes seen in all the screen shots are included with the theme.

This is the 1st release, so there are still many bugs I'm trying to fix, but I figured it was working decent enough to put out a v0.1. If you find any bugs, feel free to let me know, and if you have a fix for it too well then even better.

Please leave comments and tell me what you think of this theme modification. If you have a suggestion of how I could improve this theme, or just want to tell me it sucks, come on, what are you waiting for?

Changelog:

10/16/2003:
Added urls to the icons and wallpaper in the screenshots. Also, if anyone is having problems with the scrollbars not showing up properly email me and let me know as some people have been reporting this, but I haven't been able to figure out what exactly is causing it yet.

 Clean Looking Theme

Same here, another fan of dark color schemes/styles. If you get a chance to finish up the patch and upload it, I'm sure plenty people would like to try it out. I've always been a fan of not too fancy, but dark, clean looking schemes. I think your work is some of the best I've seen.

Thanks,
Jeff

So, if it's just a screenshot, please put it in the Screenshots section.

Most dark color schemes have problems with Konqueror, if a web page sets the background color, but not the foreground color. Unfortunately there are a lot of such malformed pages.

I can't find any right now. Maybe this got fixed in Konqueror at least.

I never understood why Konqueror inherits the scheme colors for webpages... it doesn't seem like that would ever be useful behavior. I think you can get around this by specifying a custom stylesheet for Konqi though.

Yes, I tried to do this, but in this case the custom stylesheet overwrote the settings of all web pages, which was even more unusable.

I run a dark theme'd desktop. The way I get around the display problems in Konqueror ( ie. black text in a black input box ) is to use a user defined stylesheet. For example I have a file with the following ...

BODY { background-color: white; color: black; }
TEXTAREA { background-color: #304E53; color: white; }
INPUT { background-color: #304E53; color: white; }

This fixes a lot of my problems. There is still some problems, for example this text area i'm typing in has the background set, but not the foreground (half styled). So it's white text on a light grey background, which is kind of hard to see.

Have you tried using something like

BODY { background-color: white !important; color: black !important; }

TEXTAREA { background-color: #304E53 !important; color: white !important; }
INPUT { background-color: #304E53 !important; color: white !important; }

?
This tells Konqueror that these settings may not be overwritten.

I just have found that Mozilla has much more problems with the same color scheme than Konqueror :-(
