 Good Start

 by DBO on: May 3 2008

Score 50%

This theme is a really good start and has potential to be a lovely and wildly different theme. Currently it has serious contrast issues that make it difficult if not impossible to be productive with. Overall contrast needs to be improved before this can seriously be considered...

I agree 100% with DBO. This theme looks absolutely great, but it does not have enough contrast to be usable.

hi, i really like your theme, one issue though is the really low contrast when e.g. selecting a file on the desktop (using xfce) while it's a bit better in the filemanager (thunar).

furthermore on the xfce-panel when there's a window that demands focus the text first blinks and then turns black which renders it unreadable until you give that window the focus again.

last but not least this theme has the same issue i have criticised about (quite) all the other good pixmap themes out there: when using alt-tab to cycle applications in xfce, the selected window cannot be seen.
and the standard selected button in a gtk-dialog (which is usually marked by a dotted rectangle) is not visible at all.

anyhow, with a few of these issues tackled i think this could be an awesome theme for everyday use!

hi, i just wanted to tell you that i ported your metacity theme to xfwm4 (although "port" is not entirely true, since i had to redo almost all parts), so that all xfce-users out there can enjoy your theme too!

ok, i figured that xfdesktop out. if you could include those lines (i tried to use the colors of the theme, but of course adjust them if you like) in your gtkrc file of hemoglobinus that would be great (at least for xfce-users):

style "xfdesktop-icon-view" {
XfdesktopIconView::label-alpha = 75
base[NORMAL] = "#f3f3f3"
base[SELECTED] = "#e0d4d9"
base[ACTIVE] = "#f3f3f3"
fg[NORMAL] = "#000000"
fg[SELECTED] = "#d71b72"
fg[ACTIVE] = "#000000"
}

widget_class "*XfdesktopIconView*" style "xfdesktop-icon-view"

Hi, I really like this theme, but I don't like the fact that you set the toolbar icons. Is it possible to disable this so I can use the toolbar icons provided by my icon theme?

 Nice theme, but...

 by kensai on: May 6 2008

Well, is not often that I come to say I like a theme. But well, Hemoglobinus has been one of those very few themes which has made me say, it has something. I think is the uniqueness.

The only problem I'm experiencing is that the shutdown/logout dialog box shows the panel style, this has happened with some themes before, but the themes fix this box, as stated on moomex-theme changelog.

So, if you can enlighten me as to how to fix that problem, or if you do it upstream, it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Ouch, it is a stranger shutdown/logout it should not show the style of the panel, in fact, it does not show it.

What distro are you using, Arch?

Yeah, I do use Arch Linux, and since Arch uses no patches just vanilla packages I take the assumption that this happens on all other distributions with the same philosophy of Keep it simple, Stupid.

 preguntas

congratulations, I'm using this theme and I love it...

I've to ask you some questions, it's possible to get the "start here " icon? and, could you tell me which photo viewer program are you using? I mean that one in the right side of the first picture...

Thanks a lot..

English and spanish, se que hablás español pero "all text must be in English" grrr...

Claro, es muy fácil y hay muchas opciones

http://loscazadoreslinux.com/personalizar-el-escritorio-cambiar-el-icono-del-menu-inicio

La que más me gusta (un poco más radical) es ubicar dentro de mi tema de iconos los 4 logos que cumplen dicha función y reemplazarlos, en este caso están en:

/home/xxx/.icons/black-white_2-Neon/scalable/places/256

Y se llaman:

*distributor-logo.png
*gnome-main-menu.png
*novell-button.png
*start-here.png
