Description:

The actual Tux-Logo seems a bit old fashioned to me nowadays. I would appreciate a more simple and clean design and played around with karbon. The result you can find here, since I am no skilled graphical designer I would make a proposal for a new tux logo.

Changelog:

Update:
Second shot is with more content (to avoid people from stating to "appleish", don't know know, why they think, that a grey silhouette is patented by apple). It should be a bit more 3Dish, also I can't go any further with karbon (now with inkscape).

i think it would be neat if the new Linux logo was like just a penguins head with maybe a mean face...

not like a stupid stuffed animal whos about to fall over and die.

haha.

but it will never happen. its ok tho!

 Too appleish

Your logo seems to be inspired by the apple logo. I think Linux should have a distinctive look that doesn't resemble anything else on the market.

No it wasn't. It's a shape suggestion. I'm mere not skilled enough in vector graphics to make a neat "complete" logo.

 looks nice

I see where you are going with this, and I like the simple geometry of it.

Back when Ewing did the lumpy-penguin design, there were many (many) competing icons. For some reason, the lumpy-penguin won out.

While this penguin borrows a little from the previous design, I do like the unique shapes. Simplifying the foot and making whole icon symmetrical is a great first step!

Don't give up on this! Thanks for your work...

I agree that the current logo, however cute, is a bit too childish. Can't say I'm happy with the too logos presented here but I like the idea. Hope professional graphic designers will offer their versions.

 Great idea and icon

I think it looks great. I also think the concept of a monochrome, simplified tux logo is great. The comonly used cartoonish logo is pretty much the antithesis of clean attractive design.

I don't understand why anyone whould think it's similar to an apple logo. By that logic, any monochrome icon is similar to an apple logo.

 Not a logo

Linux does not have a logo. Tux is a mascot, not a logo.
