The pidgin client looks very nice and minimalistic. How do you remove the ugly menu bar in the top? Where it says Buddies Accounts Tools etc...

extra preferences

I tried installing extra preferences and it worked to configure and make.
then I restarted pidgin bu I dont see any difference? where is the extra options suppoesd to be?

and yeah, how did you remove the status bar in the bottom?

For extra preferences go into Pidgin => Tools => Plugins => Extended Preferences.

Highlight and click Configure Plugin.

However the hide toolbards is not in that, it is however listed in Buddy List Options which is a different plugin and allows you to hide the tool bar.

Found that this plugin which is part of the plugin pack could do the trick for you but only if you have one account:

Unfortunaly this doesn't work if you have multiple accounts :(

the icons are located in /usr/share/pixmaps/pidgin

to use mine just replace them in the 16px folder in the status folder

I got the plugin working finally, had to compile it from source since im using unix.

but still wondering how you removed the Avalible bar in the bottom of pidgin?

Indeed, i got this working now to, i couldnt figure out as to why it was still showing the status of all accounts, turned out i was being a n00b ... it's a resizable area, dragging it down hid all the active accounts ;)

unfortunately I cant install mystatusbox from the purple pack :-(
I managed to install extra preference plugin. but this one just stops.
anyone having same problem with FreeBSD? too bad this plugin is not in the ports collection.

it´s a bit ironic that you have to install new features in order to remove things that are already there :-)
