Description:

this is how i think the new gnome main menu should look. there are many ideas for new menus out there, i think the gnome community wants a new menu, this one i have thought about for days, i believe this one adds ease of use and looks better, but also does not add number of clicks to get to a less used option.

the Apps Menu:
this has been seen elsewhere, the favorite applications, but what i think should be included is a drop-down list to name different sets of favorite applications. for example, i am a musician, so when i use my computer to record i would have jack, ardour, hydrogen and the volume controller in the favorites, but i am also a university student, so when i research i need word processor, spreadsheet, epiphany to be there. and finnaly the rest of the applications are still there, and can be accessed with two clicks.

the Places Menu:
pretty self explanitory, the search bar is beagle where the results open in a beagle window.

System Menu:
the left side has all the options ussually found on the system menu and the right side has the most accesed ones.

all of this of course has the icons where applicable, i just got lazy.

i am currently learning gtk so i can start making this menu.

There's a lot of new concept for Gnome Main Menu, but this one is probably the best of the best!

I can't wait You upload it :-) I'm going to subscribe this content, so if You build it please update this content so every one who is watching it will be prompted: "There is new version".

 Nice design

I like this design. Usable without being "overdone". I've toyed with a few menu replacements in both Gnome and KDE, but never stuck with them as they were just didn't seem to "fit" right.

Kickoff for example. It's a nice design and all, but it's just cumbersome; I could get what I needed quicker with the standard Kicker menu. And I absolutely hated the Sled menu.

My only suggestion would be to include some menu editing features built into it. Drag and drop, right-click properties and the like. Probably the only thing I miss out of the Windows world.
