Read the "Install" file instead of trying to run it. Here is what it says

Installation:
---------------------------------------

1. Change to the directory containing TeaX source, then do:
make -f Makefile.cvs

2. Next run the configure script.
./configure
If you're using Mandrake, Slackware or Debian do:
./configure --prefix=/usr
If you're using Suse you must run:
./configure --prefix=/opt/kde2

3. Then compile
make

4. Then as root/superuser do the following:
make install

 HERE IS SOME HELP

Here, from someone who is still fairly new to all this... I will provide some tips for installing this.

First of all, download the tarball and extract it to your home directory...

Then, follow the instructions in the INSTALL file.

If you get any errors during this process (which is likely unless you are a KDE developer who already has all the necessary development packages installed), it is probably because you are missing some needed packages.

This was my problem... After some searching on google with the various error codes, here is what I had to do:

apt-get install autoconf automake xlibsdev libqt-dev kdelibs-dev

That is a Debian command, but if you are running a different distribution, you can probably translate the package names to your own (e.g. in Mandrake, dev=devel). Remember that you must be root to run this command in Debian.

After finally getting it to install, the menus still were not translucent, even after checking Look & Feel: Teax Transparency in the Control Center...

That is because there is one more step... Open the Control Center, go to Look & Feel: Styles and select "Teax" in the "Widget and Style" box.

Click Apply and you should have translucent menus... though only with KDE-specific programs, not with your general X-windows programs, like Mozilla.

It is quite nice. Hope this makes it easier for someone out there.

u what im using debian unstable (sid) and this works perfectly :)
1 glitch though it seems the kicker isnt still 100% perfect if you set it to translucent and no stripes and change desktops a couple of times it freezes on the wallpaper of eg desktop 3 and kicker needs to be restarted to make it work.
Like it though thank you for ur hard work.
