Description:

It's idea of new gnome menu. I think the SLAB menu is not as good as it should be, this mockup is something between SLAB and Gnome Menu we have now.

CLICK "DOWNLOAD" to see launched menu, without changes given by actions with the cursor.

On the first screen there is example when a category is chosen.

On the second screen there are "utilities"- no "System" menu, because all configuration apps are included into one Gnome Control Center (something like we can install today, but it shows only apps enabled in menu)


There are no "places" menu, because you can choose devices from the center part of menu. You would be able to configure displayed stuff too.
On the third image- there is an example of editor. I've added a colours tab, where I want to give a choice of used colours or enable a system look.

When you place the menu on the bootom of the screen, "Session: Username" would be displayed on the top of the menu.

When the programm list would be too long, then the scrollbar will appear :)

This mockup needs GTK and Compiz being fully integrated, as you can see, there are some efeects under the panels and menu- menu style would depend on GTK and Compiz theme.

Wallpaper downloaded from web (I don't remember location) and improved a little bit :)

Idea is free ;) so if you are interested in creating this, just do it. I hope it will be included in GNOME in the future...

Well... it's new, I don't have the old file :/ It's black & white background now, eariler it was something like dark green, to look nice with the preview wallpaper.
I'll make buttons during the weekend. Maybe I should send you a *.psd or something like that, with the layers?
P.S, - please, not any Gimp format ;)

I made it before KDE4 and Mint-Menu, but if someone working on them used my ideas I am really happy to be able to help developing Linux and improving usability in it (unfortunately it is so poor...)

Regards and sorry for my absence so long, but I don't use Linux if I don't have to ;) I've read about new GnoMenu on one of polish websites and recalled this work in my memory :)
It's nice to see that over 80% of people like it.
