This is only a window decoration. For the top panel I use Kicker, the bottom one is a Karamba theme.

i know most of you guys dont want to take the time to type a whole bunch of stuff, but can someone walk me through the installation? i just got suse linux 8.2 two days ago after breaking my monitor after windows XP crashed for the third time that day (just kidding but i have gotten mad enough to do something like that)

so, if you have the time, what do i need to do? i know basic commands in the konsole like "cd","ls","sh","cvs" stuff like that, but not much.

 RedHat 9 KDE 3.1

Hello - I am a semi-newbie

Iam trying to install this decoration, but after I go through
./configure --prefix=/usr

make

make install

It goes through fine.

But now I do not know how I would change the theme. I have tried to go to the kde control center -> apprearance & themes -> and whatever...I can not seem to find it.
Any hints? (thanks)

Ok, all along I was installing it in the wrong directory, I just had to change the prefix value.

./configure --prefix=/usr/include

ok then...

I am just waiting for someone to just comeout with OS X on linux he he, that would be the day...

 Installation

by maitre on: Jul 28 2003

Installation is rather straightforward on various Linux distributions, red hat can be tricky as KDE is not installed in a standard place. First, after you have downloaded the theme in tar.bz2 format, navigate to the directory you downloaded it to from a console or terminal window. In my case, I put it in /home/maitre so I open up xterm (KDE users ALT-F2 "xterm") and type:

cd /home/maitre

this will change your current working directory to what was specified. After that, type

tar jxf kwinsmoothakuaosk-0.9.tar.bz2

That will extract the file into kwinsmoothakuaosk-0.9.
From here, cd into the new directory (we just learned this command, I'm not repeating it :)
and type,
./configure --prefix=/opt/kde3

NOTE: /opt/kde3 is the directory KDE is installed on SuSE, I believe Mandrake uses /usr/local/kde3 but I'm not positive. So if you're not using SuSE replace /opt/kde3 with what you need.

Then just type,
make
which will compile the style. Now type,
su
and enter your root password. Then type,
make install
which will install the style.
This is known as CMMI (configure/make/make install) concept of installing "tarballs"|source packages. A lot of styles and themes and even windecs use CMMI methods of installation. Any questions, I'm willing to help all the noobs :)

Thanks for providing instructions :) Just a quick note, on Mandrake you have to run configure --prefix=/usr, I'm not sure about SuSE, and Red Hat should be the same as Mandrake. If anybody got it compiled and installed on Yopper please post some instructions, some people seem to have problems compiling it on Yopper.

I have installed the theme correctly ( I think ) I followed the instructions posted here, however I cannot figure out how to apply the theme. I m running Mandrake 9.2, I used ./configure -path=/usr/local/kde3 allong with other paths that I found recomended, however I nerver could find how to apply the instilation to my X windows user.

any and all help would be great.
