KDE4 Brainstorm

Description:

First of all, I dont know if this is beeing done for the filemanager for KDE4, what ever its gonna be called when they roll out, but I searched this site, and found nothing about it in the kde4 brainstorm section...

I found myself last night wanting to select all files in a dir with a certain fileextesnion, so I thought that for the filemanager in kde4 maybe a field next to the path/address field where you can type regular expressions and chose an action like select, or show matches to that expression, like all .mp3 files, or all files in uppercase letters or whatever:) Hope you understand what im talking about:)

or maybe, imagine that you rightclick in the filemanager window, selecting "select", that brings up a window, type "*.mp3" and then you get all the *.mp3 files in the dir selected...

Konqueror already supports the * and ? wildcards. I do think expanding on that would be a nice idea, though. Maybe not in Dolphin though - don't want to scare away the noobs ;)

You can use the filter bar in the newer Konqueror versions. If you can't find it, try this:
http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php/konqueror+quickfilter?content=22720

I think Dolphin has something similar.
