Hi,

unfortunately Pythons proxy support is rather limited. You can try exporting some environment variables before running KGmailNotifier (I've described how in an older post). But this only works on proxies without authentication.

I'm planing to rewrite the part used for connecting to Gmail using KDE's own http libraries. This should make KGmailNotifier work through proxies too. However I can't tell yet when I'll be finished with that.
So as usual: Please be patient:-)

 Suggestions

Great software, I finally found a working and nice gmail checker!
I have a few suggestions:
1. it's better if you make open https://mail.google.com/mail instead of simply www.gmail.com, which does not use https.
2. why not making possible to choose whether display popup or not?
3. and to hide trayicon when there are no new mails? (like mail-notifier)

Hi.

To 1: Good idea. I just changed that.
To 2: This is already implemented for the coming 0.4 version.
To 3: That isn't hard to implement so I guess I could add that as an option to 0.4 too.

Thank you very much for your input.
Best regards.

You could also make it so that it's possible to keep new mail popups and disable connection error popups. The latter ones annoy me a bit, it would be enough to show a different icon, and I still want to be notified when I receive a new email.

Actually, I found this quite annoying, too and I've already changed this for 0.4. There won't be any popup for errors anymore. I'll release a beta for 0.4 soon.

I'm afraid you will have to wait for KGmailNotifier 0.5 for a KDE4 port:-)

Anyway, that's next on my todo list once the last bugs for 0.4.0 are fixed. I'm hoping to be able to release at least a first beta in time for KDE 4.1.

Greetings.

Good news then :)
I don't care waiting a bit, even because current panel implementation lacks the option to choose what icons you will auto-hide or not, so I can't place any more icons there, hehehe.
Reguards.

 Better KDE integrati

 by NeoExt on: Feb 25 2008

You've done a great job with UI redesign.
I have a few suggestions to make this useful program even more integrated into KDE:
- change some strings, e.g. 'Configure...' instead of 'Configure' in trayicon menu; 'Configure' instead of 'Preferences' in config window titlebar;
- make KGmailNotifier use KDE icons instead of the included Crystal Clear;
- use own KDE object for opening KFileDialog (the button with open folder; is this a new object or just a simple button?);
- remove the right frame in the config window;
- add a horizontal line between options and lower buttons ('apply', etc.), like in other KDE apps config window.
That's all. Hope I helped.

 request feature

Hi, nice and userful app.
Just one thing, I'd like to request a new feature.

By default, the app show news mail at inbox, but don't do it if the new mail has a label and is archived (i have some greats filters).

See you soon, and whatever upgrade would be grateful ^^
