Description:

Although this version is now completely obsolete, there's still a large amount of traffic coming through this page. The download links now point to resources relevant to the new version.

Changelog:

0.2.6.5 - Updated some broken URLs.

0.2.6 - Updated tangerine icons, fixed a few pixel bugs. Run 'rm -rf ~/.tango-generator' after downloading to upgrade.

0.2.5 - Added network manager icons, beryl & emerald icons, fixed broken links, added a few additional icons. Cleaned up some code elsewhere. The upgrade should be fairly seamless this time.

0.2.1 - fixed another stupid bug.

0.2 - Synced packages with upstream, updated listen icons, cleaned up index.theme, switched openoffice packages, added many additional icons, added Tango GTK Icons as option, fixed emblem placement, fixed numerous crashes. Many things are changed in this release, so you should run 'rm -rf ~/.tango-generator' in the console before first run to see all updates.

0.1.7.1 - Improved handling of gimp installations, fixed error when gconf editor is selected but not the cpu applet.

0.1.7 - Vastly improved priorities robustness. Improved XFCE support & drew & added image-position-size icon.

0.1.6(.1) - Fixed various bugs that shouldn't have existed...

0.1.6 - Fixed gimp removal bug.

0.1.5 - Big Update:
Changed to correct 'robots' icon. Drawn and added new dia & gnome-planner. Updated trunk icons (gnome, tango). Improved support for fedora Core 6. Added bluetooth & firewall icons. Improved lock/key metaphors.

To Upgrade to this release you'll need to run 'rm ~/.tango-generator/archives/gnome.tar.gz' at the terminal.

0.1.2 - added a few more icons and additional sizes of others. You'll need to run "rm -rf ~/.tango-generator/archives/custom-app-icons/" if you're upgrading.

0.1.1 - Corrected Tango Materia and finishing installation after installing additional icon packages.

0.1 - initial release of version 2 (Version 1 quickly became unmaintainable).

I'll probably squeeze it in to the next release. Do you know if it uses GTK stock icons or its own hard linked ones?

They're currently in a mess spread between two computers. I've used elements of both GPL & CC icons in different icons, so I'm going to have to sort out the licensing before I can release them collectively.

 Some apps greyed out

I just installed this, and some of the applications, which I know I have installed, are grayed out and won't let me check them. Anyone know why this might be?

I've implemented a system where if you have an unusual file structure that's not recognised it will just not be detected. This is to prevent the generator 'tango-ifying' directories that appear similar to the target one but are in fact completely unrelated. If you give me your distro name and version I'll have a look into it.

Ubuntu 7.04

The applications in question are: Open Office and Epiphany. I installed them from the standard distros through apt-get.

OpenOffice in 7.04 is somewhat hacked, and contains only one icon theme which is Ubuntu branded. The script typically works by replacing the 'outdated' industrial icons. In epiphany, the only icons that would normally be 'tango-ified' are ones which are by default in Gnome 2.18.

You can, however, install various Tango OpenOffice icon sets manually.

I changed the installation.py somehow to make it recognize all the apps installed on my Ubuntu 7.04. Before, it could not find the installation path of Azureus and of Epiphany. Since for Azureus there is no "azureus" appears in the output of the cmd "locate Azureus2.jar" and for Epiphany there is neither the string "art".

Another thing is, the path for downloading Open office icon theme seems not working here, so I switched to the alternative one.

You shouldn't have to theme epiphany on 7.04 - its pretty much got Tango icons by default. As for Azureus, are you using one of the Vuze versions (ie 3.0)? What did you have to change the string to? Finally, I'll update the OO URL in the next relese.

I use Azureus 2 which is installed from ubuntu's repository and I just simply changed the "azureus" to "Azureus" in the script then the output will remain only one result, since the Azureus2.jar is located at "/usr/share/java/Azureus2.jar"

BTW, thanks for your job, I really like those icons! :)

I'm working on it, but it's proving difficult due to the variety of directory structures etc between packages and systems.

Can you try running from the terminal and posting your output? Also try running 'rm -rf ~/.tango-generator' and starting again.

I try and try to generate themes, but even with all the default options, some icons are missing, including tar.gz package icons and folders (which make the theme unusable=) kind of bad since I really like that it is probably the only tango theme with tangoish emblems...

This is great, finally complete Tango themes! A suggestion for next version would be to allow us to pick the start-here icon, since some of us would prefer ubuntu's over tango feet...

That's actually in the work, I'm just working on Tango icons for various other distros to give the user a choice.
