Description:

Although this version is now completely obsolete, there's still a large amount of traffic coming through this page. The download links now point to resources relevant to the new version.

Changelog:

0.2.6.5 - Updated some broken URLs.

0.2.6 - Updated tangerine icons, fixed a few pixel bugs. Run 'rm -rf ~/.tango-generator' after downloading to upgrade.

0.2.5 - Added network manager icons, beryl & emerald icons, fixed broken links, added a few additional icons. Cleaned up some code elsewhere. The upgrade should be fairly seamless this time.

0.2.1 - fixed another stupid bug.

0.2 - Synced packages with upstream, updated listen icons, cleaned up index.theme, switched openoffice packages, added many additional icons, added Tango GTK Icons as option, fixed emblem placement, fixed numerous crashes. Many things are changed in this release, so you should run 'rm -rf ~/.tango-generator' in the console before first run to see all updates.

0.1.7.1 - Improved handling of gimp installations, fixed error when gconf editor is selected but not the cpu applet.

0.1.7 - Vastly improved priorities robustness. Improved XFCE support & drew & added image-position-size icon.

0.1.6(.1) - Fixed various bugs that shouldn't have existed...

0.1.6 - Fixed gimp removal bug.

0.1.5 - Big Update:
Changed to correct 'robots' icon. Drawn and added new dia & gnome-planner. Updated trunk icons (gnome, tango). Improved support for fedora Core 6. Added bluetooth & firewall icons. Improved lock/key metaphors.

To Upgrade to this release you'll need to run 'rm ~/.tango-generator/archives/gnome.tar.gz' at the terminal.

0.1.2 - added a few more icons and additional sizes of others. You'll need to run "rm -rf ~/.tango-generator/archives/custom-app-icons/" if you're upgrading.

0.1.1 - Corrected Tango Materia and finishing installation after installing additional icon packages.

0.1 - initial release of version 2 (Version 1 quickly became unmaintainable).

I can't reproduce this bug. Can you post a screenshot? Try running 'rm -rf ~/.tango-generator/', and then running again. Also, select all icon themes so that only the order they're in reflects your customisations.

I use feisty, and I have installed the las t version of Tango Generator.
All the applications and menu's icons are ok, but the Desktop Icon's doesn't look good (look like icons from Gnome 1.3).
And in nautilus, when looking icons in Icon View (not list view), only show that ugly icon from Gnome 1.3....

Help!!!

Have you got rsvg-convert installed as the post above describes? Please post a screenshot if that isn't the issue.

Oh, I have installed only imagemagick, not the other. The problem get resolved by installing the library.
Thanks a lot!!!

 gray-folders

hey thanks for the new release.
almost all of my reported bugs are fixed, thank you.
the only thing that is still wrong, are the emblems. with the gray folders, they are still placed wrong.
do you have any idea why that happens?

That's something that's actually been specified by that theme. If you go into the 'gray-folders.tar.gz' archive in ~/.tango-generator/archives, you can go to scalable/places/folder.icon and delete it. Re-generate a theme and it should be 'fixed'. I'm hesitant to change this from the original theme, but will do so if enough people consider it an improvement.

That's part of the upstream GPL package - make sure you have it selected. If not, type 'cat ' in the terminal, drag the gimp icon onto it, type ' | grep Icon', press enter and post the output here.

yep i have already done this, it doesn't give me any output, so i guess the Icon=Gimp.png or so is missing.
Or what do you think?

Or you may just have to run 'killall gnome-panel'. Sometimes gnome can be quite bad at updating icons as in this case, where I had to manually override the path to the icon with the generator.

That's odd. Add or modify the line 'Icon=gimp' to ~/.local/applications/gimp.desktop' (that may not be the exact path depending on your distro, but it should be similar).

Ya, it's pretty wierd. In Ubuntu the path to the gimp.desktop file is '~/.local/share/applications/gimp-2.2.desktop' just in case if anyone else would have this problem as well.
worked fine, thanks mejogid.

 Beryl and Emerald

Icons for Beryl and Emerald were not applied. I did not see beryl.png or beryl-manager.png in generated set. emerald.png, yes, is there.

So, what's going on?

Ok, emerald.png in apps, but why both in places folder?
Strange...
In my other iconset I've copied beryl-manager.png in apps and vice versa, but Beryl Manager and Emerald Themer doesn't cooperate with GNOME.

That's a bug, but it doesn't actually change the way the icon's applied in anyway so I haven't uploaded the new version yet. As for why it hasn't applied, the shortcut probably hasn't been switched to the correct icon. I've described how to find out where a shortcut is pointing a few posts up.

Icons in menu were changed, but Emerald Themer icon [of window] wasn't changed, Beryl Manager tray icon also.

That's basically a bug with the way the two apps request icons. For beryl, you can get around it by selecting beryl as an app to install icons for. Without them fixing the apps to request icons properly (I may file a bug report if they don't get onto it), I'm left with hackish and risky ways to implement this that I'm not overly keen about.

I'll look into it. I've got other priorities right now, but when I get back to the 'generator I'll look into it. I've never used thunderbird regularly, and installed it temporarily only to test the generator.
