Description:

Although this version is now completely obsolete, there's still a large amount of traffic coming through this page. The download links now point to resources relevant to the new version.

Changelog:

0.2.6.5 - Updated some broken URLs.

0.2.6 - Updated tangerine icons, fixed a few pixel bugs. Run 'rm -rf ~/.tango-generator' after downloading to upgrade.

0.2.5 - Added network manager icons, beryl & emerald icons, fixed broken links, added a few additional icons. Cleaned up some code elsewhere. The upgrade should be fairly seamless this time.

0.2.1 - fixed another stupid bug.

0.2 - Synced packages with upstream, updated listen icons, cleaned up index.theme, switched openoffice packages, added many additional icons, added Tango GTK Icons as option, fixed emblem placement, fixed numerous crashes. Many things are changed in this release, so you should run 'rm -rf ~/.tango-generator' in the console before first run to see all updates.

0.1.7.1 - Improved handling of gimp installations, fixed error when gconf editor is selected but not the cpu applet.

0.1.7 - Vastly improved priorities robustness. Improved XFCE support & drew & added image-position-size icon.

0.1.6(.1) - Fixed various bugs that shouldn't have existed...

0.1.6 - Fixed gimp removal bug.

0.1.5 - Big Update:
Changed to correct 'robots' icon. Drawn and added new dia & gnome-planner. Updated trunk icons (gnome, tango). Improved support for fedora Core 6. Added bluetooth & firewall icons. Improved lock/key metaphors.

To Upgrade to this release you'll need to run 'rm ~/.tango-generator/archives/gnome.tar.gz' at the terminal.

0.1.2 - added a few more icons and additional sizes of others. You'll need to run "rm -rf ~/.tango-generator/archives/custom-app-icons/" if you're upgrading.

0.1.1 - Corrected Tango Materia and finishing installation after installing additional icon packages.

0.1 - initial release of version 2 (Version 1 quickly became unmaintainable).

guess i'll be your bug tester :D

anyway, both the materia-green.tar.gz and the materia-red are missing and they cause the program to hang without error.

Edit resources/themes.xml file.

There is a typo on the iconset, it says matertia where it should say materia.

If thunderbird isn't wokring, can you try to locate the thunderbird preferences directory in your home folder? If you enable hidden files in nautilus, it should be something like .mozilla/thunderbird, .mozilla-thunderbird or .thunderbird/. Please post back with which it is and I can fix it.

I've currently only tested it on Gentoo, Fedora, Debian and Ubuntu. I'm actually downloading the SuSe DVD to have a poke round in vmware, so it should be fixed soonish. If you want it sooner, you can try the following:

Run updatedb as root (this is mentioned by the generator). You need slocate or rlocate installed for this to work.

As a normal user, try running locate [name of installed program] if the generator still can't detect other programs.

If the latter works but the generator still doesn't detect your program, try poking round isntallation.py and look at the lines containing locate. Trying modifying them so that they detect the correct paths on your system. If you don't feel up to it, just wait till my ISO downloads (which could be a while, given the problems I'm having with my ISP).

I seem to be hung at "Unpacking and installing Gimp", the last item to be done. I'm not getting an error message, but it has been like this for an unusual amount of time. Is it hung? =/

Triple post because of a fatal lack of an edit function.

I'm using 0.1.2, and now the segment I had hanging with earlier appears sooner. I am stuck at "Unpacking & Installing Gimp" once again. Is it because I'm running it as an unprivileged user?

Could you try running it from the console? "python tango-generator.py" will launch it. I'll investigate it myself and update if I find a fix. The Gimp theme is installed in the current users directories so privelages shouldn't matter (assuming you have access to your own ~/.gimp-2.2 directory).

Although it's completely unclear, this means that Tango-Generator is having trouble reaching the web server. It may have been temporarily down, or you may have to set up your proxy. The error happens because I've just decided to ignore http errors since they were so common using the python http libraries.
