This is an extended (:P) mockup of the second screenshot from http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=30012 .
This is only a mockup, a picture to show an idea.

(Note step 2: I have written "when he", but it can of course be a she too. However May fix it someday...

Additional ideas:

sofiasmartis: A "More >" button that pops up the context menu

sofiasmartis: A button for configuring the actions

TheNacho: Each drive should have its own icon in the top bar, and its own dropdown menu (like with the current "storage media" kicker-plugin)

pearluck & Sebien: "Non-removable devices" in a second blue-titled section.

Sebien: Add a progressbar showing how full the volumes are.

caaz: Nice to hear you like it. I loved your original mockups, yes hopefully Plasma will support things like these extenders.

WishMaster: I haven't tried Vista, so I have actually no idea. But XP has this window popping up (center of screen) asking for actions.

When work is started on plasma, you should try to find some place where the developers discuss these things and point them to it...

The next developerssnapshot will be in approx 1 week, the release after that will most likely be alpha1, I think they'll get started by then.

very cool :)

i think the integration of the drive's context menu would be also nice

maybe just using a "More >" button that pops up the context menu
that would be quite cool for things like copying the address to clipboard or "Open with..." and such stuff

maybe also an direct button for configuring the actions
