Description:

I’m a translator so I’ve a few ideas about how Kbabel should look like:

1.Original string and translation box have to be CENTRED. This is not a minor point, really. Actually they are placed on the right side of the screen and this makes that after some time working your eyes start to pain. Those boxes are what you are looking to most of the time so you aren’t looking at your front but to a side. Its natural palace is the centre.

2.The buttons one use the most are next string and so on so they fit best in the bottom centre of the window, just under the translation box.

3.It’d be nice to have always a little box containing: the project you are working in, the .po file you’re editing and the place it occupies on the project (the example it’s pretty clear, I think).

4.While I work I used to have a web browser window with some dictionaries opened and Wikipedia too in case I’ve some kind of linguistic doubt. Maybe I’ve opened some online translator engine like babelfish or the open source “Apertium” (which is developed for Galician, Basque, Catalan and Spanish). Sometimes words are confusing or even unknown. I don’t know if it’s possible at all but it’d simply be great to have them all inside Kbabel. The (terrible) mock-up I’ve done it’s self-explanatory. Amarok let’s access Wikipedia, so this is already done; it’d be something similar but including dictionaries and translator engines. A key point would be to be able to customize this tab bars to add specific dictionaries.

I hope Kbabel boys consider this. What do you think?

(Sorry for my awful mock-up and my funny English)

having an integrated dictionary is a great idea.
the translations of words inside a selected string, should however display trenslated results automatically, so you don't have to retype them manually.

for example selecting "string1" composed of "word1", "word2" and "word3" would give "translated(word1)", "translated(word2)" and "translated(word3)" on which you could then just click.

translating would then bo just a matter on clicking on the right words in the right order....

I'm in.
