Description:

Changelog:

Lots of changes since the last release:
* Shadows can be drawn behind ALL windows
* Shadows redraw properly (ie. no shadows over kicker)
* Configurable buttons
* Configurable borders
* All l3m's changes (and others)
* Various bug fixes

The next release (out in a few days) will let mouse clicks pass through the shadows - I havn't had time to do that today, but it's pretty easy ;-)

And dude, you are AWESOME for this :)

This looks really good!
But as far as I can tell from the screenshots, you are using a horizontal and vertical blur on the shadow effect. That's why the diagonals on the shadow do not appear on the edges. Maybe try using a gaussian blur or so on the effect (well, depending on how much it affects speed).

Thanks anyway!

actually, arts has to do with sound and I have arts-devel installed. Google just told me that libart is a grafics library and upon installing it, half of my kde apps wouldn't start anymore so I had to get rid of it and reinstall kde.
And by the way, those libraries still didn't let me build kwinacqua, even after running ldconfig and configure again.

You need:

libart_lgpl-2.3.10-75
libart_lgpl-devel-2.3.10-75

Packages or their equivalent in your distro. My distro is SuSE 8.1 I got those packages from the LinuKS download page (where you download kde 3.1) libart_lgpl-2.3.10-75 is in the base packages, and the other one in the development packages. The packages that come with the installation CDS in SuSE 8.1 are older and won't let you compile KWinAcqua, so download and install those packages. It worked for me and I had the same problem as you. It's very cool!!!

Make sure you use:

./configure --prefix=/opt/kde3

That's for SuSE, if you have another distro use the path where kde3 is installed. Then just:

make
make install

That's it (was for me).

kde includes are in /usr/include/kde, (in your case, could be /usr/local/include/kde). Try adding the right path to --with-extra-includes.

You may want to check too if file workspace.h exists in your filesystem, and where.

And finally, qt has specific options: --with-qt-dir, --with-qt-includes which may or may not help.

Please, keep in touch and post your configure/make line if you solve it. I'll save other users' time ;-)

 Mandrake directories

 by uga on: Feb 20 2003

Score 50%

Mandrake installs kde straight in /usr, not in /usr/local (unless you installed it there manually)

So,... the prefix should be --prefix=/usr

If you have a look, you should find all the header files in /usr/include (not /usr/include/kde), the libraries in /usr/lib, icons in /usr/share/icons... and so on

Except for qt3 who has its own directory in /usr/lib/qt3
