Firefox-like toolbars

KDE4 Brainstorm

Description:

One of the worst things in KDE3 is the way toolbars are customized. I haven't found an easy way to customize my konqueror toolbar and I've always left the default toolbars as my distribution choose for me, while in Firefox, customizing the toolbar is the first thing I do.
I think the drag and drop approach of Firefox is a good start for a way of customizing toolbars in KDE4.

I fully agree!

The way toolbar customization is handled in Firefox is great and the way it's currently handled in KDE is one of the small things why I feel that KDE is sometimes kinda... kluncky.

Maybe the only thing in kde that I hate, it the way you have to customize toolbars...it's near impossibile to do that. You can't save their current setting in a easy way, you can't reset to default in a easy way...and it's difficult to customize them quite freely. I hope that this will be different in kde4.

Linux...giving Microsoft a taste of mortality.

I vote good!
I don't like that you can't have the navigation bar and icons on the same row.

Actually you can. I have the main toolbar like that right now. If you remove the address bar from the location-toolbar you can put it somewhere else.

The hidden constraint is that there can only be one address-bar for all toolbars (active or inactive). Yes, it sucks and I don't understand the reasons behind it either.

It may be something to with the address bar not being a QAction... I'm not sure though, but thats what I expect after messing around in QT4 Designer.

The KDE way of customizing toolbars IMHO is much better than the firefox way! Much more flexible. Please don't change that.

Want an easy way to install Debian Sid? Get sidux :)
