Description:

Domino is a style with a soft look. It allows to fine adjust the shininess of the widgets by customizable color gradients.

Changelog:
0.4
* new option for indented / non indented menu items
* new option for highlighted tool button icons on mouse over
* the button look for tool(bar) buttons is now optional
* new rubberband options
* smaller tabWidget margins
* respects Gwenview's / Kicker's taskbar applet / Konversation's own mousewheel handling for scrollviews
* clipped popup menu edges, for a better look with KWin's shadows (Beryl seems not to support it).
* fixes pixmaps on PowerPC architecture
* fixes functionality of some popup QToolButtons and adapts their look and behavior to KToolBarButtons
* the content of popup menus with a side pixmap is visible again (Amarok, Digikam)
* adapts KMenu's section header style
* fixes Kickoff's tab icon alignment
* fixes possible crash with enabled text effect
* lets apps using their own label colors on tabs (if they're not defaulting to a fixed color like konsole)
* decoration: option "dark window frame" draws a darker frame
* decoration: borders are hidden when in maximized mode and moving / resizing of maximized windows is not allowed.

You are useing a Xserver older than 6.8.99. The best you can do is to update
it. Or wait for the next release, which should come today or tomorrow. But
then you will have to live with a rectangular pressing area for the round
windeco buttons, if you notice a difference at all ;-)

first, great theme. it has several really cool things, like the adjustable gradients, allowing for a polyester-like look. great work!

I have a few requests, tough. first, i think the outline around the elements is a bit too harsh. and second, the menu look could use some work:the mouse-over a menu item, looks a bit flat, maybe button-like would look better. same with the highlighted menu item - a more button-like look (polyester does this) would be cool.

then, LOVE the smooth scrolling!!! great job! but the slider is a bit small, maybe (allow to) make it a bit wider?

fourth, mouse over effects? would rock!

fifth, the tabs don't allign with the area below, and the area could use some rounded corners, maybe, too.

sixth, the slider is cool, but i also love the slider in the new ubuntu look. maybe you can make the slider look like that, as an option maybe? same with sliders, tough you're close already.

thanx, i hope you can continue to work on this style, resolve some issues, and port it to KDE 4 ;-)
(kde4 compiles, and needs a default style, imho all style dev's should get on the train and try to get their style to be default :D)

Hi

Thanks!

The outlines of the widgets are intentionally a bit wider, this should be a
peculiarity of the style. With middark to dark colors they look fine, but
unfortunately I ignored the fact, that most users are using very light colors.
Maybe I will redo all pixmaps, but that will take some time.
The menu/popup items are indeed flat ;), I tried various effects on them and the
flat one looked best. The popupmenu has also a lightly bended flat look, so imho
it fits quite well.

> third
Yes, I will try to stretch it and put it in as an option.

> fourth
I personaly don't like it, but I can add some "flicker" effects if people like it.

> fifth
I don't like them also. Rounded corners are planed, but how exactly the entire
thing should look, I dont know.

> sixth
The ubuntulooks is the best gnome style I saw so far, although it still has a
tad of a "comic" look which I try to avoid.
Too bad I removed the rectangular scrollbar option (which was already in), I
will put it on the todo list again.

You know, after 2 days of use - I think you just did the BEST 0.1 release of a style I EVER saw. Ok, there are other nice styles, but you did a lot things in your 0.1 which I didn't even think where possible!

the beautiful tooltips, the smooth scrolling, the great tab's, custom gradients - and have you seen Kmix? how it looks if you click it? ubercool, no style i've ever seen has been able to make that one look good... you did it in 0.1 :D

also, the beautifully rounded menu's - great! you might consider letting it go smooth from menu button into the menu itself (polyester does this, i think lipstick too), and there is a visual glitch, but all in all - they look great.

and you know, the style isn't even slow...

And if there is anything I can do to help... I can't code, but I might be able to help you with the pixmaps or stuff like testing.

Thanks, actually I have a problem with the circe of the listViewExpander. Its a tad to bold and maybe too transparent.
I've tried to create a new one in gimp, krita, inkscape, xara, but they all hate me ;-)
Here is the old one:
http://img240.imageshack.us/img240/7124/lveqv6.png
The size should be the same and it should look good (antialiased) on dark and bright backgrounds.
Thanks and good luck ;-)

well, I agree it's a bit too bold right now, not sure about the transparancy. I think it'll be pretty hard to see on a dark backround, anyway... a white surrounding might help, kind'a a glow? anyway, the only thing i could get in krita was making it a bit less harsh, a bit lighter. but that's easy, just lower contrast a bit... Not sure what to do next. btw you might wanna email me: jos@TmijnkamerD0Tnl

It seems you're missing the code compiler.
You need to install gcc first.

what configure does is check if he can find everything you need to build software. every thing he says no on is most likely a show-stopper. can't find gcc = no gcc (GNU C Compiler), crucial for compiling software. You need to install it. After you have installed the so called toolchain (a 'chain' of progs which are needed for compiling, one of them is GCC) you will need certain libraries, to be more precise: every dependency for the to-be-installed app needs to be available, WITH the corresponding -dev package. So this will for example need kdelibs, AND kdelibs-dev. so if configure can't find something, try to find out from what package it is, and install that one. google can help here.

good luck.

for those that didn't find out yet, this style is very flexible, and can do the 'glass' look which is also available in polyester and qtcurve:

 GTK and Domino

Crank Software

Love the theme. I think it's one of the best I have ever seen. The only issue I have is that the scrollbars look funny in GTK apps. Any idea how to fix that? It almost looks like it can't find the pixmaps to go at the ends of the scrollbar.

TIA
