Description:

Serenity is a soft and quiet theme to ease your mind, with a lot of options to make the Serenity yours.

All I wanted to do was to remove as many lines as possible from the widgets in order to avoid the "recursive frames effect" in Konqueror. I did just a little more. ;-) And I also did my best to support dark colorschemes.

To install from sources, see INSTALL file in the archive.

1.7.1:
- Bugfix for KDM.

1.7:
- Configuration dialogs re-designed to be lighter i.e. faster to render.
- All the colorschemes I ever made for Serenity (25) are now included.

1.7 Style:
- The character used in the password entry boxes in now a big dot instead of the asterisk.
- Scrollbars and sliders do not sink under a mouse click any more.
- Tabbar improved with new gradients and new colors. Four styles are now available for both the active and inactive tabs.
- Tabs are a bit less busy. They now only change of color under the mouse.
- Menubar slightly changed with new gradients and new colors. Six styles are now available.
- Gradient menubars are now a bit less busy too.
- Textboxes (which include also editable comboboxes and spinwidgets) can now be highlighted when they have the focus. (That's more visible than only the blinking cursor.)
- The popup sub-menu delay can now be raised up to 1 sec. (That gives you the time to *feel* you have to click to let a sub-menu appear.)
- Serenity now has its own brightness routines so that you can have white buttons. (Still doesn't work perfectly with black buttons.)
- The frames in Kontact are back. (Grumble, grumble...)

1.7 Decoration:
- Partial re-design of the configuration dialog to give you a better control over the colors of the buttons and their symbols. You can even set the power of the eventual color mixes used.
- You can now also set the color of the buttons when pressed.
- The standard highlight color is now available for both the hovered and activated buttons.
- Four titlebar style are now available: No background, solid background (both as previously), solid top and softer edge.
- The windec also got brightness routines similar to the ones of the style so that the buttons all look the same.

I first thought it was a problem with kaffeine. But it`s caused by Serenity.

The text on the Buttons of kaffeines Start-View only show the Pixmaps, not the text!
Same with Tasty-Menu-StartButton! Only the "K"-Pixmap is shown.

Wanted to tell you before you release the "Stable"-Version ;)

I made 2 Screenies.
As you can see the Button-pixmap is centered. So theres something that doesnt want the text to be displayed ;)

Problem solved. I don't use Kaffeine but I use K3B which suffered from the same disease. I cured it and Kaffeine as "collateral damage". ;-)

The "stable" version 1.0 will arrive soon, in a few days. Stay tuned.

Where can I set the look of the Scrollbar, tabs, and so on? There is no "Configure theme" button...
And also the announced new windec-buttons I cant find :(

Is there something wrong with my installation?

To configure the style; Control Center -> Look&Feel -> Style. Next to the combobox where you can choose the style, there must be a button "Configure". If it isn't there or if it is disabled, something is definitively wrong with your config. Keep me informed. In the worst case, you can still edit the config file by hand.

The new windec buttons are here: Titlebar -> Style: Toolbuttons.

OK, so I misunderstood you ;)
I thought you would realease a new KWin-Icon-theme (Porcelain, powder,...), but its another style...
I found the new style, but i still like the "Knöpfe" (Buttons)-Style most ;)

The "Configure"-Button is deactivated, so i cant klick it...
Where can I get Info about Config-File-Options?
Is it possible to get the Button activated?

I've already seen the configure button disabled. It means that the dialog is invalid for some reason. I don't use special widgets so I guess my UI file isn't compatible with your setup. Try to edit it with KDevelopDesigner (kdevdesigner) or QtDesigner (designer). Do and undo something, then save the file. This should ensure that the UI file is compatible with your setup. Re-build and see if the error persists.

If that fails, go back to Serenity's homepage. When I talked yesterday about editing the config files by hand, I immediately thought that to release all needed informations wouldn't be such a bad idea. So I made a page about them.

I hope you won't need them, but just in case, you'll know where to go. ;-)

This is not a bug or --if you insist-- this is a KDE's or Qt's bug. When you see such a widget drawn with black and white lines, it usually means that its drawing is hardcoded somewhere and there is no way to style it.

Serenity does a rather exhaustive job compare to most other styles but there are still widgets that resist. I even dug into Kopete sources to find what widget is used but I think I got buried in the process... Nobody came back to tell the class of the widget. ;-)

As holidays away from Serenity, I'll patch KDE but don't expect anything before KDE 3.5.4.

Version 1! Man, just returned home and new version is here. On 3 screenshot I like that window decoration on the bottom of the shot. Maybe even more than my BII. Gonna try it now. Pitty I alone cannot boost rating to 100% ;-((

You're lucky, I was about to remove this toolbutton titlebar style. I found it a bit too unadorned. I finally didn't work in vain. ;-)

But I'v one sugestion. For me it will be very cool if You add some code to make possible flat butons. It I make to screenshot here http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/6402/3388/1600/Untitled.0.png it can look like.

Sorry but I can't see your screenshot. Blogger says "Access denied".

Just send it by email (if you want). I was looking for an excuse to release a new version with the last tiny patches I made. A new button style could be a good one. ;-)

And by the way, Serenity can already have flat buttons. Try the option Gradient style: Flat. Both the style and the windec have this option. Isn't it already flat enough?
