Description:

Hi all,
First, I\'m not an artist, so sorry for this poor picture.
I\'d want to see a 3D desktop for linux, but not like LookingGlass, because I\'m not sure looking a movie by a 45° angle is very plaisant. My idea is that the desktop is a house, or any other place, and the contents (multimedia, games, settings, office, ...) are put in rooms. So, we can navigate in the house by clicking on doors, or by the navigator (in green), or with the mouse, ... The documents are placed on the walls (just a screenshot of the doc), clicking on one actives it, and the camera moves to be in front of it. \"put in front\" unsticks the document, giving full access.
thanks you

 Kinda like BOB

MS released BOB and it turned out to be a complete flop. I think this has quite a lot of the same elements as bob, but perhaps in a more GUI-like manner.

None

I prefer the normal KDE interface over a house.

 Not for me.

Like huhtanen said, this is too much like Bob. It's a nice try, but I've yet to see a 3-D interface that would make a person more productive, which is the ultimate goal right?

Hi all,
I don't know if people would use this type of desktop for production, but I think this idea can change our relation with the computer.
I found 3DNA by googling this afternoon : http://www.3dna.net, it's like I want, but for linux.

 I don't like

Although this is really cool-looking, usability isn't improved at all by these
interfaces, in facts, them need a lot of clicking and moving to just start an app.
IMHO, thumb down (could be optional but
having as default whould be hell, is good
only for showcase....)

This is a very interesting concept. But somehow I don't think it would match with the philosophy of kde.
