Description:

This is the first of some mockups for a complete GUI i have in design. It uses each corner of the screen for one "Module"

Using the modules only requires the user to fly their mouse pointer to that modules corner of the screen, the same way you can choose to activate the dock in mac OS X will activate modules instead.

This screenshot shows the "Manager" module that is responsible for minor file browsing, system settings and other user defined file tasks.

You might also notice that there arent any submit style buttons, for small search input i dont think these are needed anymore becuase users are or should be used to just pressing enter (this is not the case for long web type forms).

 Very Clean

I like how simple and easy it looks, not over cluttered with buttons and other junk but has enough to make it fully functional, very smooth design :)

The designs are simple but also i dont pack the mockups with features and all that stuff because it will all need to be re-done anyway!

Thanks much for commenting!

This looks really cool and easy. My only problem is the two "up" buttons. Are they both necessary?

Just can't understand why there is a "run" field in the top. Is it appropiate there?
If it's not really necessary please remove it. I think 95% of users don't run commands in a browser, so...

Keep it on!

One aim for this GUI is to facilitate both the advanced linux users who are hell bent on tons of different options, and to keep the default setup simple and hide tons of options right under the surface so they can be easily enabled/customized.

Having a run box for easy command line type stuff (i.e. kdesu "app") would be really usefull in my mind. I use the standard KDE run box often.

Can others comment?

I agree about the run button, there could be a search button
the 2 up buttons: it's ok for me, don't have to use the mouse so much, but still looks good and clean
