Description:

#
# BootMessage v 1.0
# 01/FEB/2006 by Flavio Carrara
#
# This is a simple file to be kept in ~/.kde/Autostart .
# It looks for a simple text file, and if it is at least 5 characters long
# opens a greeting on boot.
#
# Just change the DIRECT-TO-YOUR-TEXT-FILE to your text file (ie. /home/bootmsg.txt),
# and the "Dear Daddy" string for any greeting you want.
#
# Have fun!
#

You might have to set it as executable.

This script is usefull for me to leave messages to other people at home that uses my machine. When the person turns it on, it brings up any message I want. I can easylly change the greeting message by simply writing it in pure text. If I erase the body of the text, no message comes up. Hope is usefull for someone. :)

What are the exact terms of the license?

Sorry, I don't know much about licenses... I believe it should be GPL, since my file is just a shell script. Correct me if I'm wrong. Isn't this all about open sources? :)

Hi, GPL is a nice license, as you retain the copyright on this work. Regarless of if this is a script or a compilable product, you can choose whatever license you want. Some people like the BSD license because it fees everything, but that is just a matter of taste.

Life sucks until you realise you don’t have one. Elkin

Thank you, then. I'll stick to GPL. It's a very simple script, but I'm the author of the idea.

It's OK now. The license selected used to be a so-called "proprietary license", which is what confused me. Now you have selected the GNU GPL and everything's clear.
