Description:

Does he understand the exposé of MAC OS X? I thought about a to minimize different from the form how we knew. I thought about minimizing programs for esposé. The application when we minimized, it would go, instead of for toolbar, for the own desktop, being decreased, in a place, transparent. A double click in the desktop would show the desktop. A double click in a minimized application this way would reestablish him for original condition. Could also have another capacity. We are working in a virtual area, let us say one. When we minimized an application, he would be minimized in esposé in the desktop 2.

Conhece o exposé do MAC OS X?

Did you mean expose? Because for KDE you can use Kompose.

Linux is like a wigwam, no windows, no gates an an apache inside

 nice idea

i think this is not a bad idea. its some kind of 'use the desktop as expose' isn't it? yeah, it might work.

this also solves the problem i have with expose/kompose: it needs a shortcut or something, its not always there like the taskbar.

on the other had, there is much more the desktop could do, and if it's full of applets, this won't work - and kompose/expose is the way to go, imho.

 Iconify

Many linux window managers have this concept, such as window maker I believe. That's why you hear minimize called iconify in some places

 FVWM!!!

FVWM actually supports this feature quite some time now. -> fvwm.org

I really like to see it in KDE, too. But the KWin API so far does not support screenshots immediately before iconifying the window. Hope, a KDE dev is watching...

it'll be easy in KDE 4, but the desktop might already be in use by plasma (plasma.kde.org)...

In FVWM, these thumbnails are still windows and no widgets as part of the desktop. Therefore, it may not be subject to kdesktop, but still to KWin.

Yeah but as it's SO easy to configure FVWM and SO MANY Free OS's users have the time to do this ;)

 Why...

...has this such a good rating?
Kompose already exists (but
can certainly improved upon).
Or is this a different proposal?
Sorry, I can only go by the screenshots because the description is hardly comprehensible.

his idea boils down to: "when you minimize, minimize to the desktop itself as a minipicture of the window".

not very usefull, i think, unless you don't use your windows fullscreen, and there is a shortcut accessing the windows (and there goes the advantage over kompose..)
