Description:

I don't have time or motivation to maintain this icon theme anymore (this theme has not changed since version 3.3, Mar 17 2007). The fact that it still "kinda" works nearly a decade later (2015) is a small miracle. If anyone wants to take over its ownership, please contact me.
====================

This is (was) a complete refresh of the original OSX icon theme by Toby. I fixed every missing icon I could find, fixed the "tiny icon" problem and made enhancements. It is somewhat of a hybrid theme: I tried to make choices that seemed logical trying to keep a balance between usability and strict adherence to OS X.

2015 update: fixed the download link, nothing else.

I can't reproduce your problem, I tried on a 7.04 Feisty Fawn vmware box (but I'm pretty sure I tried on edgy too).

I opened the gnome-theme-manager, clicked the "install new theme" button and chose my tar.gz file. It worked without any problems :| What's that symbols thing you are talking about?

I've just downloaded the theme but was unable to install it.

When trying to open it with Archive Manager it produces the following output:

tar: This does not look like a tar archive
tar: Skipping to next header
tar: Archive contains obsolescent base-64 headers
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors

Setya

This is sweet but I noticed that my trash can still looks the same.
Also the following minetypes do not show the appropriate icons:
*.deb
*.rpm
*.png
*.jpg
*.mp3
*.pdf

I only tested the above but there could be more.
Running: Ubuntu Edgy, AMD64, GNOME 2.16.1

Do you know when we will see an update, this is just awesome?

You are right about those mimetypes, they do show up correctly. The problem seems to be the trash icon that still shows the old one. This problem was reported in another thread back in 11/02/2006.

Yeah, the problem is that I have pretty much no time to update the theme :| if someone can make patches though, I would gladly accept them o_o but it could take a long time before I kick myself in the butt to do it alone as school keeps me busy.

 problems

i installed osx icon pack on ubuntu 6.10 but i have some problems:
1-trash icon is not changed (is still in form of Human theme)
2-In gnome commander i have GIGANTIC icons of devices (i think 10 times higher then normal). After closing gnome commander and change for theme from ubuntu (human) ,opening gnome commander again this icons are small as usually.

This problem with icons in gnome commander and trash in my system is common for other icon themes downloaded from gnome-look site.Identical problem i have with glass theme.

hmmm... my guess would be that gnome commander does not handle icon themes properly, did you try filing bugs on that?

 Fix for broken trash

by bicchi on: Mar 15 2007

Score 50%

Hi kiddo!
I found a way to fix the broken trash icon problem everyone is having in Ubuntu. I am not sure if other distro's are going through the same issue but it seems to be a problem with the name used by the trash icon.

Go to your OSX/scalable/places directory
rename gnome-fs-trash-empty.png to user-trash.png
rename gnome-fs-trash-full.png to user-trash-full.png

There is also a synlink with the name: gnome-fs-trash-empty-accept.png that used to point the full trash icon. I just erased this synlink and no harm was done. I am not sure what the point of synlink but then again its my first time modifying icons. ;-)

If on Ubuntu just refresh the panels by typing this on the command line: pkill gnome-panel

. . . and we are done, having ubunting everyone.

The End

thanks for the tip, I kicked myself in the butt to make a new release (3.3) today :) tested on Ubuntu Edgy and Feisty.

Message for stimpie: if possible, could you please mirror the file on your server? that would be great :)

On your new icon theme the trash icon is still broken.
The empty icon should be user-trash.png
The name for the trash full is Ok.

Check also the gimp icon I think this one is also pulling from the gnome icon set.

Sorry to continue rambling on the trash icon but I also noticed that both the empty and the full trash icon are not transparent. If I make the background of my panel transparent I noticed that the trash icons show a gray background on them. This only happens for the trash and the rest of the icons do show up correctly.

Thanks :)

 gnome-power-manager

You might want to add the 'hicolor' icon set to the Inherits.

At least on FC6, the default scalable icons for the gnome-power-manager panel applet are in the hicolor icon set.

At least until you are ready to make the battery icons in the 'spare icons' folder part of the regular release.

Also, you have a gnome-dev-battery.png file in apps now, which messes up the battery level indicator by default.

I re-uploaded a fixed version of 3.3 (new md5sum: fa4eda9c112acc51de2ee34e6174f2c3). I think it should fix the trash icon for real now.

I also added a dependency on hicolor and removed the gpm battery icon.

About the trash not being transparent on the panel: sorry but that's most likely a bug on your side, mine (gnome 2.18 though) works fine with the transparent background.

Regarding the transparency on the trash icon. This is a bug on my side and it had to do with the theme I was using.
For some reason the theme was overriding the icon transparency and putting its own background. Selecting a different theme that look similar fixed the problem for me.
Everything else is working fine! Once again, thanks.
