Description:

I don't have time or motivation to maintain this icon theme anymore (this theme has not changed since version 3.3, Mar 17 2007). The fact that it still "kinda" works nearly a decade later (2015) is a small miracle. If anyone wants to take over its ownership, please contact me.
====================

This is (was) a complete refresh of the original OSX icon theme by Toby. I fixed every missing icon I could find, fixed the "tiny icon" problem and made enhancements. It is somewhat of a hybrid theme: I tried to make choices that seemed logical trying to keep a balance between usability and strict adherence to OS X.

2015 update: fixed the download link, nothing else.

Hi there!! Great job! I use this theme on my laptop and it looks great!! Thank you!!
I was asking myself: as I'm a webmaster, could I use your icons on my website or not? I mean, I'll link this page (and your name) so people will know this is YOUR work and not mine! Any fee to pay? Or not?? Thank you in advance!

I think these are not "my" icons :) I can't restrict your use, but be aware that these are artwork *very* *cough* similar to Apple OS X's icons.

Hm. Kind of forgot to answer the question. If you want to use them, no, I do not (and cannot) charge a fee. You don't need (and should not ;) link back to me. Your decision to use them or not is up to you and should be for personal use (anyway the Big Fruit would be angry at you if it's on a commercial website I guess).

Thanks for your answer! What do you mean by "very similar"? I saw a lot of screenshot from MacOS but I've never looked at the icon in particular... I mean, It's just a copy&paste or is there any work from you? Do you think Apple put a copyright on its icons?? Hope not!!

Sorry for double posting but I see the tree level is set to 2 by default and so you would have probably never seen my comment :)
Here it is:

Well it's mixed, some icons do not come from the mac OS. Apple put a copyright on its icons (from my googling), but I did not extract them directly from a mac myself. I only took them from other existing themes (on osx-e.com).

Hmm. did you try redownloading it? Or the mirror? Or opening the archive with file-roller and extracting it in ~/.icons?

 not all icons workin

Hey, I'm using ubunty (edgy eft) with gnome 2.16.1. I've got your icon theme installed, and for most icons it works. However, when I try to add the trash to a panel, the old Tango icon comes up. Also, in the dialog to add an application to a panel, I get the old icons again. Know why this might be?

Hmmm. GNOME must have changed the naming stuff again in 2.16. If I look at /usr/share/icons/gnome/scalable/places and status, I can see the trash can as "user-trash" and "user-trash-full". I guess I will have to make another release sometime soon to fix the list of bugs that accumulated. If I'm lucky enough I could try doing that during christmas holidays, but I make no promises :| if you find other bugs though, please list them!

Thanks for the speedy reply.

I suppose that they must have. I think things were working with dapper. In any case, I looked through the /usr/share/icons/gnome for all the *trash* icons and made symlinks in the OSX folder, hoping to rectify the situation. I think it worked for some of the stuff. I'm having the same problem with other icons. I don't know about the previous versions, but this version has a 16x16, 22x22, 24x24, and 32x32 (not sure about the last one) folders with icons in them. I suppose one could do symlinks to the scalables folder...I'll play around with it, but I'm new to this kind of customization. Let me know if you have a chance to come up with anything. Thanks.

Sorry for not replying sooner, gnome-look wouldn't let me. Well thing is, I have never made themes for KDE, and I don't know if they follow the freedesktop "standard", if they do, it should work with KDE afaik...no?

Is there any possibility of a firefox theme for this? I'll try to figure out how to make one, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

I don't know how to make firefox themes at all (and I use epiphany, which is the official gnome browser and uses my icons natively), but you are welcome to use those icons to make a theme for Firefox if you want :)

I looked at how to do it, and it looks really confusing haha. If only epiphany didn't put bookmarks in alphebetical order... then I'd be happy haha. Oh well maybe someone else will do it... I'll mess with it later. Oh wait is there anyway yo convert the throbber into an animated gif?
