Description:

SOME REQUEST - a lot of you guy's were asking for binaries for their distros,
so please if you could build one and mail it to me i would post them ASAP, 10X:)

Hi there,

this is the deKorator kwin deco,
deKorator is based on the HOWTO: KWin Window Manager Decorations posted in here: http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=6332
and done by Brandybuck, 10x david:)
the man that responsible for all the art design is jon clarke AKA ArbitraryReason, and if you don't know him by now all you should do is just look at the highest rated scores of this site:)
the nice thing about deKorator it's that it loads is images from
some user defined directory(something quiet similar to what iceWM is doing ),
thats means that everything is themeable with no time and no programming knowledge is needed.
one thing to note is that if you would like to see the changes instantly when designing the tiles, you need to run "kwin --replace&".

few notes:
when installing the new version, log out and login back, or run "kwin --replace&" to load the new version.
if for some reason some options dont seem to work, remove your old kwindeKoratorrc file and let deKorator produce a new one.

i will update my site with some more documentation, samples, template-themes, and other usefull stuff for the theme makers,
so don't forget to check it out, it will be located in the "goodies" directory.

how to install new theme - there r 3 ways to install new theme I'll name them out,

1 - downlad theme tarball and extract it to $HOME/.kde/share/apps/deKorator/themes

2 - download theme tarball, go to deKorator "themes" tab push the "install new theme" push button, you'll be presented with a dialog box, enter your theme URL or just use the little push button to locate your theme on your file system.

3 - go to kde-look and search for some 0.2 deKorator theme, in the theme post right click on the download link and "copy link address", then just go to deKorator "themes" tab push the "install new theme" button and paste the link onto the address bar, deKorator will download and install it for you.

most importent after any installation type, if you'd like to use the theme you need to press on the "set theme path's" push button.

And PLEASE if you got any comment good or bad, suggestion, feature request, other tiling format idea, please feel free to shout it...

10x to eyal the project is hosted now at www.cheetux.org.il, you could also find there some theme's i've ported from 0.1 to 0.2.

Changelog:

*better masking, for how to use it properly look at the Bushido-Yellow-theme inside the tarball.
*new hue colorizing method, proposed by Azzali Matteo AKA mattepiu.
*if supplied transparent images deKorator will fill it with the style background color, this will allow some "powder" style windec, this idea was proposed by the autor of powder,Remi VillatelAKA Maxilys.
*support for title bar wheel mouse action as introduced in kde 3.5.1, patch supplied by Morten Johansson.
*global themes support, this feature allows rpms and debs builders to build themes packages as proposed by loki, deKorator will look for the global themes at $KDEDIR/share/apps/deKorator/themes.
*much more configureabilty when regarding to active and inactive decos and buttons.
*custom colors for buttons.
*new theme The K-style:Infinity-theme, done by Zoran Karavla, included in the tarball and shown in the screenshots.
* few other options in the config dialog.

for full changelog see file CHANGELOG within the tarball.

can someone with more time/knowledge than me make an ebuild for this? It's getting so that deKorator is a requirement for the best windecos on kde-look...

bash-2.05b# cat /dev/mem | strings | grep -i llama
Shit, my RAM is full of llamas!

 2 bugs, 1 wish

by franzf on: Nov 25 2005

1) Here on my KDE-Desktop, the window-title is painted (on the left and on the right side) until the Buttons Area starts.
Shouldnt it only been drawn in the field between the rightTitleBG.png and leftTitleBG.png (the area for midTitleBG.png)?
Otherwise its an ugly feature ;)

2) Sometimes after redoing a window-Rollup (double-klicking title-bar) the bottom-windowborder is missing :(

My ultra-wish ;)
For next release, could you please make inactive-window`s color change???
At the moment it`s quite hard seeing if a window is active or not :(

All in all it runs _PERFECT_ on my AMD64-Gentoo-machine :D

1000 thx :)

Franz

Hi ,Franz

1) i guess u r talking about what's hapenning when u decrease the window width, if so it's allready been taking care of, now i paint it only if the width permit it.

2)i never saw this reaction till now could u send some screenshot just so i can understand better.

3)your wish is my Command:)

:D ok, here the screeniers: (I have marked the relevant areas)

1) http://www.alpine-art.de/Bilder/Screenshots/Bildschirmphoto17.jpg
You see, the window title stzays centered, probably you should say "align left" if textlength > WindowTitleWidth (or so :D)

2) http://www.alpine-art.de/Bilder/Screenshots/Bildschirmphoto16.jpg
I tried to reproduce it:
It happens when i roll up a window (so that you only see the title-bar, not the window...), and moved the title-bar. Then resize -> bottom border is missing :), its not only not painted, you even cant use it to resize (its missing :/).

Hope i could help

Franz

Edit on 2) (bottom-border disappears):
happens not cause of moving the title-bar, but cause of "auto-re-rollup after mouse-over (hover)" i have activated (mousecontact with rolled-up title-bar shows the window, sorry, only have german i18n activated, dont know the exact english terms...)

I hope you know what i mean, otherwhise someone hast to tell me how to make a movie of some desktop-action :D

hi

tried a little, and I noticed, deKorator doesnt paint the bottom-border, if you roll-up your window, all other decos do (you so can see the title-bar AND the bottom-border)...
Do you have an influence on that behavour? I hope so :)

Hi :)

actually it is much easier to let the window paint the buttom border while is shaded but i think it looks better this way(Dekorator way), though it could be a configuration option in the next release.

 Masks,

I've just tried creating a rightTitleBitmap.png, saved it and ... no go, is that deKorator only supports the four corner masks at the moment? Or have I goofed it up?, I was "assuming" that each tile had it equivalent mask? Let me have the heads up on this :) AB
