Description:

SOME REQUEST - a lot of you guy's were asking for binaries for their distros,
so please if you could build one and mail it to me i would post them ASAP, 10X:)

Hi there,

this is the deKorator kwin deco,
deKorator is based on the HOWTO: KWin Window Manager Decorations posted in here: http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=6332
and done by Brandybuck, 10x david:)
the man that responsible for all the art design is jon clarke AKA ArbitraryReason, and if you don't know him by now all you should do is just look at the highest rated scores of this site:)
the nice thing about deKorator it's that it loads is images from
some user defined directory(something quiet similar to what iceWM is doing ),
thats means that everything is themeable with no time and no programming knowledge is needed.
one thing to note is that if you would like to see the changes instantly when designing the tiles, you need to run "kwin --replace&".

few notes:
when installing the new version, log out and login back, or run "kwin --replace&" to load the new version.
if for some reason some options dont seem to work, remove your old kwindeKoratorrc file and let deKorator produce a new one.

i will update my site with some more documentation, samples, template-themes, and other usefull stuff for the theme makers,
so don't forget to check it out, it will be located in the "goodies" directory.

how to install new theme - there r 3 ways to install new theme I'll name them out,

1 - downlad theme tarball and extract it to $HOME/.kde/share/apps/deKorator/themes

2 - download theme tarball, go to deKorator "themes" tab push the "install new theme" push button, you'll be presented with a dialog box, enter your theme URL or just use the little push button to locate your theme on your file system.

3 - go to kde-look and search for some 0.2 deKorator theme, in the theme post right click on the download link and "copy link address", then just go to deKorator "themes" tab push the "install new theme" button and paste the link onto the address bar, deKorator will download and install it for you.

most importent after any installation type, if you'd like to use the theme you need to press on the "set theme path's" push button.

And PLEASE if you got any comment good or bad, suggestion, feature request, other tiling format idea, please feel free to shout it...

10x to eyal the project is hosted now at www.cheetux.org.il, you could also find there some theme's i've ported from 0.1 to 0.2.

Changelog:

*better masking, for how to use it properly look at the Bushido-Yellow-theme inside the tarball.
*new hue colorizing method, proposed by Azzali Matteo AKA mattepiu.
*if supplied transparent images deKorator will fill it with the style background color, this will allow some "powder" style windec, this idea was proposed by the autor of powder,Remi VillatelAKA Maxilys.
*support for title bar wheel mouse action as introduced in kde 3.5.1, patch supplied by Morten Johansson.
*global themes support, this feature allows rpms and debs builders to build themes packages as proposed by loki, deKorator will look for the global themes at $KDEDIR/share/apps/deKorator/themes.
*much more configureabilty when regarding to active and inactive decos and buttons.
*custom colors for buttons.
*new theme The K-style:Infinity-theme, done by Zoran Karavla, included in the tarball and shown in the screenshots.
* few other options in the config dialog.

for full changelog see file CHANGELOG within the tarball.

do you plan to implement masking properly so you can eliminate the need
for user to manually create and save separate masks in a separate directory ?

doesnt pixmap hold a mask already ?

Hi
well i dont think i got u, what do u mean pixmaps holds masks? how should i know which part of the pixmap is a user mask?

any way as told u before, i'm not coding any thing special till i'll see what u'll come up with Detenate and decide if it's worth it, i allready did some experiments with deKorator for the styles as well with dcop calls and such and i must say that it's working pretty fast, even faster then a lot of styles i saw in here, but any how i'll wait for your work and then i'll see.

reduplicating stuff over and over again makes me MAD

cheers

pixmap->createHeuristicMask()
or
pixmap->createAlphaMask()

yes, detenate does, it is a standard image format feature you should be aware of.

if user neglects to add mask your proggie should create mask based on bg color or transparency if needed
and not force user to manually create and provide material that is already created/provided in the pixmap by gimp et:al

well i simply can do that, you are thinking of situations when the mask would be symmetric , but there are lot of situations when you don't want it to be like that, think of when you have like 3 buttons on the right side and you want to make some nice wave mask on the right corner, but not a simple symmetric wave which you can tile but one with little curve which grown bigger on all over the buttons, so how would you tile it if it's not symmetric, that's why i use different static mask, so in case the user change the buttons position the wave would not be destroyed.

just looked at the code, looks like an AKWA clone like decgen was.

why no colab ? maitre, motyr, bitwit ? you guys should be working together instead of letting egos dictate.

:( Sorry, i didn't clone any thing from AKWA nor from decgen, i started deKorator from the howto posted on this site.

about your other comment we all thought about colab, and it certainly not an ego issue, just that every dev has his own timeline and approach of doing things, hence look at the post above.

bye:)

 please help

well the suse 10.0 rpm of dekorator 2 caused the control center to crash upon selecting dekorator as window decoration.
The dekorator 3 rpm resulted in nothing. Tried installing on suse10.0

Downloaded source and tried to build and got the same error dealing with mousewheel undeclared value ect....
as everyone else.

If you end up fixing this can you also possibly post a webpage dealing with dekorator and versions and history. I find kde-look to be hard to navigate.
