Description:

Inspired by the artwork of the game "Destroy All Humans" I decided to try my hand at a B-Movie Poster type wallpaper. This is the result.

The 4:3 Aspect Ratio packages should be suitable for the following resolutions: 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, and 1280x960.

Changelog:

12-11-05: Added 4 new Beastie versions. If anyone knows where I can find a larger picture of Beastie let me know. I had to scale the one I found and it's a bit pixelish. A crystalized Beastie would be very cool as well.

05-28-06: Updated the 4 Beastie versions with Beastie from http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=37612

05-29-06: Packaged wallpapers grouped by location(Berkeley or Finland) and size. Each package contains both the full and partial text versions. Also added the laptop aspect ratio as requested.

I've also added links the the xcf (Gimp) files in all 3 sizes. With the Gimp files you should be able to create a Beastie/Berkeley version with a blue background or save as a png with no background at all and use your own colors.

Thanks for the comments guys. I can't take any artistic credit for this, I just put the pieces together, but I'm glad you like it.

 ugly and stupid

This is a ugly and stupid art artwork, the BSD People are creating _really_ free software (under BSD license), because they love UNIX and _not_ because they hate Microsoft. Please inform yourself better before creating such artwork.

thanks for the input buddy. its pretty obviously a joke, we all use some kinda -ix here. it would be silly if it was only because we hated microsoft. if that was the case, we would all steal windows.

Yeah, it is not good. It does not look good, and what is very, very, very bad - it shows people scared because of Tux and (sorry, i do not know name of freebsd's logo).
This is bad to show - people scared by open source. Someone may understand point of this wallpaper bad, such as 'open source is not good' - this would be very bad, i think.
The author is also unsure about the licence. I think he may mention name of author of that nice shining tux. (I think this nice tux is somewhere from kde-look.org, but i am unsure.)

Wow! Are you people serious? I must remember, next time I post, that not everyone can have a sense of humor. My guess is that those that 'don't get it' are from non-english speaking countries and wouldn't know a b-movie from Bea Arthur from a b-cup. Anyway...my appologies to those that are offended.

BTW, between work and home I use FreeBSD, OpenBSD, PC-BSD, various Linux distros, AIX, Solaris, AND Windows (95, 98. 2000, XP, NT and Server 2003). In no sense of the word do I HATE windows.

I think its outstanding and funny. Any old horror flick fan will get this straight way!

Well done, excellent sense of humour!

Officially, the BSD mascot doesn't have a name, but some people like to call him Chuck (DON'T call him Chuck, though; it's not his name). If you must give him a name, beastie is generally acceptable.

 AW, CMON!

You're overreacting. The first impression you get is the superlative of those mascots. Well, if anyone is enough of an idiot to get scared of open source because of that, he deserves to use winhoes.

Take it with some distance and basic intelligence.

Dude .. I've been here for a looooooong time ... and this is the very first thing that got me posting in, at least, a year or so ...

Please keep up the good work !
kde-look depends on it ... and lately, the good work has only showed up in here in really few .. and far between occasions ..

btw: could you please add 1280x800 res versions of both wallpapers?? (1280x800 is default res for 15.4 inches notebook's monitors)

Thanks !

Thanks gnemmi, I've added the 1280x800 versions you requested. I've repackaged everything to try to keep the number of files down, but I also added xcf sources for anyone who wants to modify to their liking.

Thanks gravity. There's not much artistic talent represented in these wallpapers, just knowing how to use Gimp, but I'd have to agree with about the importance of a sense of humor. Enjoy.
