Description:

Some improvements I think will increase usability of Kmenu.

The Kmenu will have a toolbar at top with icons to change content of menu:

* Recent open applications menu
* All applications menu
* Menu for quick access to home directory
* Favorites menu
* Help menu per application

Will have an applets area, like "find file/folder" applet showed at mockup.

Download link is to a tarball with various mockups for a new kmenu, plus these screenshots.

Please give me feedback.

Changelog:

0.4
* Better menu organization
* Quick access to files, favorites, command execution, help and applications
* Added a suspend button

0.3
* Replace icon bar for menu switches
* Replace hipotetic run applet by find file/folder applet
* Add a button for configure Kmenu

0.2
* Add icon for browse files to run
* Better identification of menu modifiers buttons
* Choose buttons (shot 1) or expansive menus (shot 2) when configuring kmenu

Other interesting feature to add to menu is the support for drag 'n' drop icons to and from menu like in windoze.

This is useful for quick edit menus and provides a way to user made your customized menu with links he needs.

 run

Well... looks a lot like Redmond... The run-box IMHO isn't necessary (we have Alt-F2) and only takes up space.

Where is the switch user button? Maybe make the Switch button at hte bottom a button for switching virtual terminals and switching user?

And I don't understand that "Toolbar with buttons for" at the top of the menu. Are the buttons flags/sliders which open a menu behind the main menu? I don't think it's a good idea to hide the recent programs in a seperate menu, for the advantage of the recent programs is you just have to click once (means on the program entry), not clicking through a menu.

Looks a bit naked. I like the dividers (all programs, actions) in the recent kmenu.

Yeah I like this overall. All the transitions will be quick and smooth sliders, or fades, right? That's the only problem I could foresee with this type of kmenu that has different contents at different times. How do we smoothly transition from one list to another?

I don't think about it yet, a developer can choose the transition method when programing it... but fades will looks great.

 Much better

This is getting better.
My one suggestion would be the switcher bar that is the active one showing the contents maybe have a circle instead of an arrow. Having an arrow there looks a bit confusing, when you can't really expand/collapse the showing contents.

cheers,
