Description:

KaffeTower manages computers in your Internet Cafe (if U have one;). It can calculate different times with different rates. It also will keep products database, sales reports (and much more). Any cooperation on this project is most welcome.

Changelog:

0.1 - basic interface, basic functions. At this state programm needs lot of work to make it usable.
* version numeration corrected*
0.1.1 some basic functionality (like counting;) added. * can someone help me using Kdevelop with Project->Distribute option? I my case it generates not valid archieve with missing .h files. That's why I had to link to external (bigger) file on my server. **
0.2 - rewrite KaffeTower to use database (postgresql in my testing). Major changes when calculating time (add time dialog), several bugs removed. MAIN TODO: user has to setup database manually at the moment :(
0.2.5 - switch to sqlite, kaffetower autogenerates databases. Very first attempt to calculating rates.

Among many others programms Linux needs this kind of software. I don't really think I'm able to finish it alone, but - hey - at least I've started :) I hope someone else needs it as much as I do.

I have not compiled this yet, but can you tell me if this can control windows boxes or only Linux?

If it does not control Windows, maybe you should also consider the option of creating a windows client application.

If it does both Linux and Windows boxes, well, wow.. your on a market winner for sure.

I set up a cybercafe out here in Spain, and I was forced to used a Windows control software, due to the clients wanting to play games. However, I use Linux myself (SuSE), and hated the idea of having to have my bar box running Windows.

I actually sold up the shop, so all this is just info for you.

But from the screenies, it looks good!

This proggy is currently 0.2 version, which is not controlling any stations (as blocking, displaing info etc.). At the beginning I've focused to desing quick and intuitive interface connected with safe database.
Software (with sources available) that controls stations already exists, so when KaffeTowers started to work in descent way (that includes sales, different charges etc.) I plan to make it able controlling other computers. T

essentialy cyber-cafe have dual-boot (GNU/Linux-MS Win) workstation for sale the connection time.
It is important to have client for two OS, the server in GNU/linux is a good choice.
