Description:

Widget style based on the Plastik style. This style incorporates/combines components from the lipstik and PlastiQ styles. Krisp also has the following features:
--all new menu bar widgets
--a bunch of other small tweaks
--some things I'm probably forgetting

Special thanks to Patrice Tremblay and Martin Beck for their great work.

This is my first attempt at a kde style, so I hope to get lots of feedback.

Enjoy!

NOTE: version 0.1 will overwrite a previously installed Lipstik style! This is a temporary nusance that will be taken care of as soon as I can find the time.

 overwrites lipstik

Your screenshots look great, but this theme seems to overwrite lipstick in my control panel menu. My control panel also crashes when I try to use your theme on Slack 10.

Yes, I actually put a warning about that in the BUGS file. I guess I should have made it more obvious.

As for the crashing thing, this is not limited to Krisp: I've seen it for other style sets as well. I think it might be a kde bug.

I'm not much of a developer, but whilst you were adapting lipstick, you left all the files named as lipstick*. Why don't you change those to Krisp* so that it doesn't uninstall lipstick.

Well, this is version 0.1... This is something I'm planning on doing. It's a lot more work than you think to change the names of classes, functions, function calls, files, etc. In other words, this takes time.

"My control panel also crashes when I try to use your theme on Slack 10."

Note that while the Control Center crashes when you apply this theme (as well as others), no harm is done and you can still apply and use the theme. Bascally, it's just an annoyance.

 again as with lipstk

I really wish everyone would work together on these things, and make options on one theme, instead of having 15 different versions of plastik.

again, nice mods, would really love one theme with options to turn these mods on and off. ;)

cheers

Thats a good idea. However, this is my first style and I'm not yet familiar enough with the code. This is something I'll look into for the future.

 provide patches

You should really not create a new style but please provide patches against lipstik style. Could you please post a patch file against the 0.7 lipstik?

I really wish that lipstik, PlastikQ, Krish etc. all are combined together to make a really cool style.

thanks,
Osho

Lipstik and PlasticQ ARE combined in this style, so we are at least part of the way there!

I did not write this to be a modification to lipstiK, but a completely new style, which simply incorporates some of the aspects of lipstik and plastikq. If I were to provide patches against lipstik, it would also follow that I would have to apply patches against PlastikQ. What I did was started with Lipstik as my base code, added some PlastikQ code, and then did modifications to come up with the new style (the most obvious of which is the menu widgets).

Please note that Krisp will NOT overwrite Lipstik in the future. This is simply because I am at a 0.1 (read beta) release, and I have not had time to make the huge amounts of changes necessary. I just liked what I had so much that I wanted to share it with others and see if I could get some feedback.

 combine yr efforts?

I like this allot, but I think it would be much more interesting to have this incorporated into Lipstik...

Especially since they share the same base... Plastic!

Well, Krisp isn't meant to be a Lipstik mod: it's meant as a whole new style. See the above post for a more detailed response...

I think legalos has the right idea here. Maybe after Krisp becomes more mature i'll look into combining the three with options to choose different widget styles. Right now, i've just begun and I just wanted to get Krisp out there and get some feedback.

Anway, I hope you enjoy what I've got done so far and keep your eyes opened for the next version.

I will definately look into this crash problem, but I remember having the same problem with other styles as well. Interestingly, I don't recall my Control Center crashing recently. Could anyone experiencing this crash please post their kde version.

Im sorry about Krisp replacing your Lipstik style. I guess it was irresponsible of me to not make it completely obvious that this happens with the current version.

Hopefully this will be a non issue very soon!
