Description:

I started writing KProbe a few days ago, when i bought my Asus Notebook.
Under Windows I have the PCProbe utility to monitorize the motherboard status: why can't I have the same app under KDE? So I did it.
But in this period I have a lot of ideas and no time, and maybe this apps will have a short development time. I'm sorry!

Make me know if it works on others platform. And don't forget to specify your system :)

BUGS: i don't know...
Some will be unbugged, others... uhm...

NOTES
1) I can test only on my notebook, so I implemented what I could test.
2) To use the "CPU set speed" utility, you must have write permission on /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scalin g_setspeed
3) The screenshot are in Italian, but the main app is in English.

Changelog:

0.2a (15/November/2004)
Fixed a bug in restoring session at KDE startup

0.2 (09/November/2004)
Fixed a bug in CheckMail plugin
Fixed a bug in the available cpu frequencies
Fixed the not-starts-in-system-tray bug
Now clicking on the window's X does not close KProbe, but minimizes it in
systray

Uhm... Maybe :)
Some KProbe functions are standard, cause it reads parameters from /proc and /sys. But others are only for Asus (like the led).
I think the temperature sensor and graph should work on all system which has that support (check if you have /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THRM/temperature).
The CPU frequency scaling should works on all system that support the cpu speed scaling (check /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_setspeed).

The programming is the art of simplicity.

 Temp in Tray Patch.

There is now a patch for this, to show the temp as a number in the System Tray.

It is for Yoper, and can be found here.

Any chance of this being made part of the original program?

Experimenter...
