Description:

A little modification of Ximian's steel background. If anyone is offended by the picture, i'll take it down again, no problem! :-)

Credits to the Ximian art team, of course! :-)

Feel free to comment my theme too...

Changelog:

Added a windowless preview of the picture.

Don't take this down this is a great pic i like it just as much as the Ximian one, very smooth and free flowing. Its easy on the eyes and isn't so painfuly loud as some of the others on this site.

Kudos,
-ZennouRyuu

looks like it might be cool, but i cant tell from your screeshot. personally, i think that the "screenshot" for wallpapers should just be a smaller version of the actuall wallpaper, not an actual screenshot. but even if you do use a screenshot, try not to cover the entire screen with windows, then we cant see your wallpaper.

it looks good. TOo bad the default KDE 3 menu transperency is extremely buggy. For example in Kword and other programs not the whole menu is transparent unless i double click the menu and so on... KDE 3 has other bugs too the KDE team should of waited 1 mor emonth.

I've been using a modified version of Bluestripe - the Ximian-like lined tile - and wanted to make a version with KDE logo on it (a la Ximain's monkey). However, I'm not a graphic artist, and couldn't even figure out how to do it.

So I'm quite pleased with this. :o)

It is the standard window manager of Liquid 0.9.3 and newer.

I agree, it is really great :-)

 Gimp

by Deviant on: Apr 29 2002

I used the gimp to change the hue/lightness/saturation of the icons. Edited the standard file manager background for konqueror to be grayish blue too. ;-)

Im Think of maybe releasing a theme rpm, containing the Xft hack too, so you could have a beautiful desktop almost right out of the box, with no hacking required at all. Anybody interested?

It will be a SuSE rpm tho. I know I could need it myself, for new installations of SuSE 8.0! :-)

I installed on a new box recently (I have been using the Xft hack since it came out): seeing fonts without it freaked me out. This should definitely be the out-of-the box experience. Nice wallpaper too ;)

Of all the positive comments I've got, I'll start constructing a theme rpm as soon as possible. And improve it a bit too. :-)

btw, someone knows if it is legal for me to include a modified version of the Conectiva crystal icon set in my rpm?

This is a great wallpapaer and I would also like to add to the others in saying that a xft rpm would be greatly appreciated as well

 changing colors

by affenschlaffe on: Apr 29 2002

Score 50%

This can be achieved much easier than directly editing the icons. Start the control center aka kcontrol, go to Look & Feel, Icons. Then click on the advanced tab. You'll see three icons at the bottom and a button for each one of them which says: Set Effect. Click on it and voila, there you go:"To Gray" "Colorize" "Gamma" "Desaturate" and more.
Good luck
Micha
