Description:

Plastikfox Nuvola is a theme for Mozilla Firefox to make it have the same look as the KDE programs with the Plastik style and the Nuvola icon set.

BUTTON ORDER: Now you can reverse the button order in the dialog boxes so they are like in the other KDE applications. Simply click "Reverse button order" to install a patch to activate this feature.

MOZILLA AND THUNDERBIRD USERS: This theme is only for Firefox. If you use Mozilla or Thunderbird, there are sibling themes for them. You'll find them at the Mozillux website.

COLOR SCHEME: Plastikfox doesn't follow the KDE color scheme. Remember it's just a theme for Firefox, so it's impossible to do it. It's made with the 'Plastik' color scheme. If you want to change the color scheme you'll have to modify the theme manually. :(

MAILING LIST: There's a mailing list you can subscribe to be aware of theme updates and get help if you have any problem. You may subscribe here:

https://www.polinux.upv.es/mailman/listinfo/mozillux

Please report bugs to 'vfernandez at polinux dot upv dot es'.

-------------------------------------
HOW TO INSTALL
-------------------------------------

If you have an older version of the theme, uninstall it before installing a new one.

· Extract the files anywhere you want
· Open the install.html file in Firefox (you don't need to be 'root')
· Click the "Install" button
· Accept when it prompts for the theme installation
· 'Tools' menu - Themes
· Select 'Plastikfox Nuvola' and click 'Use this theme'
· Restart Firefox (VERY IMPORTANT!)
· Enjoy!

If you want, you may delete the downloaded files once the theme is installed.

Changelog:

2005-05-14: Added compatibility with the TabX and Tab Mix extensions. Fixed the top border when the tab bar is hidden. Changed the RSS icon. Added the icons in the context menu of the Extensions manager. More bug fixes.

2004-11-14: Added support for Firefox 1.0 and fixed a lot of bugs (read the notes for more info).

2004-09-19: Added support for Firefox 1.0PR and an italian translation by Mauro Grauso. Lots of bug fixes and improvements. Download size is 200Kb smaller because I've removed unused icons. Read the Release Notes for more info.

 Why you vote against

by djworld on: Aug 17 2004

Score 50%

I've noted someone is voting against the theme. It reached 85% and now it's 81%. I just wonder if you vote "bad" why do you do it. It would be more constructive to answer to this post telling me what do you dislike from the theme or what problems have you found so I can improve it. If you don't like the Nuvola or the Plastik style you should vote in their respective pages because I haven't created them; this is just and implementation of them in Firefox and you should evaluate the implementation itself, not the graphic style.

i know exactly what you mean. i made a nuvola firefox theme(though i stopped working on it, cause i just use this one instead now. i even began to make a port of your crystal one to nuvola the day before you released this. i wanted to have plastik cause keramik was ugly and at the time i couldnt install the gtk qt theme thing) and people would always vote against it. noone would give a reason why or anything.

i had a few icons that werent done at first, but after a couple days i had the whole theme done, but people still voted badly on it.

I think this happens with most contributions. For instance, I posted a KDE improvement suggestion that oscillated between 87-88% while on the main page. When it left the main page it was voted down and is now at 80%.

This is a really artificial behavior. There will be less people voting when it is off the main page, so to make such a difference in the rating, this means that from then on suddenly most people will be voting bad.

I just posted a few trivial things so doesn't bother me personally, but it must suck others who put so much effort in their contributions. That's why I've proposed more than once: Allow only registered users to vote, and only one vote per user.

I'd love to use it but it doesn't appear to work with firefox 0.9.3. I cannot get it to install correctly any of the ways I've tried. I just get blank box where the theme name/details should be in the theme menu.

I didn't read the instuctions and just tried installing it the normal old way. Yours comes with an installer. Apologies.

Love the theme.

What about a comix-nuvola theme for firefox. Comix is the hottest theme outhere right now.

I don't discard it, but I prefer to wait to see what happens with the QT port of Gecko. Changing the icons is very easy, but changing the style requires a lot of work. If the port is out soon, it would be much better to create a theme with the Nuvola icon set that used your QT widgets so it would use your preferred KDE style whatever it is and it would also be more realistic.

Your theme is great man, it really gives an unified look to my kde desktop. It would be nice to have also a matching thunderbird theme:)

 Re: Thunderbird them

This is an often request and I haven't forgot it. The problem is Thunderbird doesn't include DOM Inspector and I absolutely need it to make a theme. Without DOM Inspector I'm blind because I don't know what to modify and I can't see what's happening if there's a problem. I've heard Thunderbird can be passed an option in the ./configure to compile it with DOM Inspector included, but I haven't researched farther. I'll have to look at it, but if someone knows how to make DOM Inspector available in Thunderbird, it would be much appreciated.
