Description:

Plastikfox Nuvola is a theme for Mozilla Firefox to make it have the same look as the KDE programs with the Plastik style and the Nuvola icon set.

BUTTON ORDER: Now you can reverse the button order in the dialog boxes so they are like in the other KDE applications. Simply click "Reverse button order" to install a patch to activate this feature.

MOZILLA AND THUNDERBIRD USERS: This theme is only for Firefox. If you use Mozilla or Thunderbird, there are sibling themes for them. You'll find them at the Mozillux website.

COLOR SCHEME: Plastikfox doesn't follow the KDE color scheme. Remember it's just a theme for Firefox, so it's impossible to do it. It's made with the 'Plastik' color scheme. If you want to change the color scheme you'll have to modify the theme manually. :(

MAILING LIST: There's a mailing list you can subscribe to be aware of theme updates and get help if you have any problem. You may subscribe here:

https://www.polinux.upv.es/mailman/listinfo/mozillux

Please report bugs to 'vfernandez at polinux dot upv dot es'.

-------------------------------------
HOW TO INSTALL
-------------------------------------

If you have an older version of the theme, uninstall it before installing a new one.

· Extract the files anywhere you want
· Open the install.html file in Firefox (you don't need to be 'root')
· Click the "Install" button
· Accept when it prompts for the theme installation
· 'Tools' menu - Themes
· Select 'Plastikfox Nuvola' and click 'Use this theme'
· Restart Firefox (VERY IMPORTANT!)
· Enjoy!

If you want, you may delete the downloaded files once the theme is installed.

Great! But as I've posted in another comment, I'm going to release a bugfix update. Please come back here tomorrow when the new version is out and update your home page so your visitors will take the new version. This bugfix is VERY important because it made Firefox crash in certain web pages and now it doesn't.

Hello again, just installed.
Fantastic distribution, just a note, can you change the "nuvola" link in the credits to point to my homepage?

thanks again

Of course! Tomorrow I'm going to release a new version of both Plastikfox Crystal SVG and Plastikfox Nuvola due to an important bugfix so I'll change the link in that new version.

 Small Request

Would you please skin the bookmarks toolbar (the one on the side) completely - I mean with the heart icons. Right now they're just squares. Could you also skin the tabs toolbar?

Great work so far! Thanks for the theme.

Well, everything should be skinned because it's based on Plastikfox Crystal SVG. I've just changed the icons but there's no new code, and in Plastikfox Crystal SVG all that is already skinned. The bookmarks have an icon that represents a blank page like in Winstripe, the default Firefox theme. Anyway, I can change the icon if you all think it's better. About the tabs toolbar, what do you mean? The only button, which is the "close tab" button, is skinned, or at least it should. Perhaps you're using an extension? It would be better if you could send me an e-mail with a screenshot to explain what you mean.

 style engine

On the long run a Firefox style engine will be the better solution, it is probably no problem to adapt kde color settings.

But the main reason why I am so happy about this is that Firefox needs a better style.

Kool!

I think it's possible and not relatively hard to create a Firefox theme that made Firefox use the native GTK widgets. In fact, the Classic/Winstripe themes already use some native widgets and it would be possible to extend this to nearly all the widgets. But making it also use the native icon set would be very hard without modifying the source code and I have no idea on how could it be implemented. About creating a QT port, there's already a project in mozilla.org for a QT port of Gecko, but the project is old and dead and it's obvious they didn't accomplish anything. It would require a lot of effort and it would be much easier to embed Gecko inside Konqueror or any other QT application in a way like Epiphany and Galeon have done in Gnome. That would mean to forget using all the available extensions, which are one of the greatest Firefox advantages over Epiphany and Galeon. So I think the easiest and most practical way to solve the integration problem is creating themes and that's why I started Mozillux. I know it's not the best way but take in mind Firefox is not a KDE application, so I think this is the best we can do, at least until GTK and QT integration projects like GTK-QT-engine and Metatheme get mature.

hmm, the iconset integration does not matter imho. It would be easy to check what iconset is used and then request/download a corresponding iconset for firefox.

The problem is the colors.

Also an additional standalone style is no problem.

 Only 2 suggestions

1) Change the home icon with the apps/kfm_home.png icon. It should be better.

2) Change the icon of the "Go" button with the loveble blue arrow of noautun.png icon.

I was doing a theme like this, but you have made it before.

I don't think this is a good idea, since the home toolbar icon goes along with arrows, cancel, stop
