KNemo offers a network monitor similar to the one found in Windows. For every network interface it displays an icon in the systray. It can also optionally montor traffic statistics.

Add a global shortcut to toggle traffic plotters.

Find the interface of the default gateway again. (BR 328752)

Log statistics to the correct time if we're resuming from suspend. (BR 332086)

No Configure dialog

Compiled and installed OK on Mandrake 10 (over an installation of 0.1.9 with the src mods), and starts OK.

Only problem is that I right-click and choose "Configure KNemo..." and I get...nothing.

Any ideas?

Yes same goes for me. The other guy just beat me to it. The new version install went AOK as I had described to you for the earlier version. Right clicking shows that the programme has upgraded to the new version 1.10 OK and all is working OK in that monitoring is proceeding normally. I do not need to reopen the configuration panel since there is nothing I need to change but I just ran a check of everything and found that the Config.panel would not open.

By the way. Thanks for your hard work and endeavour, it is sincerely appreciated by the likes of me who would not even know where to start with something like this.

Hmm, does this mean that your solution, to run configure --prefix=/usr, does not work?

Sure here they are:

Change line 238 in the file knemod/interfaceicon.cpp and line 59 in the file knemod/knemodaemon.cpp from

process << "kcmshell" << "kcm_knemo";

to

process << "kcmshell" << "/usr/share/applnk/Settings/Network/kcm_knemo";

In order to get the entry for the configuration dialog in the control
center please copy the file kcm_knemo.desktop from /usr/share/applnk/Settings/Network to /usr/share/applnk-mdk/System/Configuration/KDE/Network.

Let me know if this works and if you also need the 'configure --prefix=/usr'.

Wow, what a great feature to add to KDE! I have been looking for this functionality for a long time, and here it is with all the glory of KDE!

I think this feature should be included in the base KDE packages and enabled by distributions by default.

One question/suggesting: why did you make the "connect" and "disconnect" commands off by default? It would be nice to at least have the "Menu Text" and "Command" fields filled in by default (ex. "Connect" "ifup eth0").

I thought that this would be the most meaningful selection for most people... sometimes even KDE people try to learn from Gnome and try to have good defaults in their applications. ;-)

traffic counter bug

somthing goes wrong with the traffic counters in 0.1.10. knemo said that I transferred 12.0 GB in both directions. Great, but I have a 56k modem and this value is impossible.

BTW I wish to hide all entries except my customized "start/stop" entries from the context menu. Could you make it possible that I can add more than 2 commands to the context menu?

Anyway great and usefull app! Thanks for that!

Oh yes, I had the same behaviour lately with my modem connection it displayed 4GB traffic. The problem is that KNemo calls 'ifconfig' every second but when calling it for the first time it takes the reported values for 'sent' and 'received' and stores them. It seems that when calling 'ifconfig' in a "bad moment" i.e. directly after the connection has been established it will deliver these false values. When the next call to 'ifconfig' delivers good values KNemo will ignore them as it counts the transfered bytes on itself.

So the problem is clear, the solution isn't.

I put start and stop at the bottom of the list so you don't have to move over all other entries with the mouse before reaching them. I thought that this is enough for 'ease of use'.

I'm already thinking if adding a third configurable entry which people can use to configure the interface by calling 'NetGo' or 'KNetworkConf'. But the entry will allow you to insert any command you wish, so yes, a third entry is on its way.

here is a script to dial a time dependend kppp account.
Save this e.g. as tcdial.sh in /usr/local/bin/ and add the command "tcdial.sh" into knemo as "connect" entry.
(modify the script to match your provider settings. P1=600 means "Provider 1" begins at 6:00)

i get this error when trying to configure:

"checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 3.2) (headers and libraries) not found. Please check your installation!
For more details about this problem, look at the end of config.log."

Nothing at the end of config.log is helpful

What do I need to do ?

They should be named 'libqt...' and 'libqt-devel...'. After this, try configure again.

I like it very much!

Even it looks kinda like windows, it gives you access to some nice-to-have-information with ease! Copying is not bad, just try to make it better than the original!
