Description:

KNemo - the KDE Network Monitor

A detailed review of the KNemo 0.4.7 can be found at Softpedia:
http://www.softpedia.com/reviews/linux/KNemo-Review-53310.shtml

KNemo offers a network monitor similar to the one found in Windows. For every network interface it displays an icon in the systray. It can also optionally montor traffic statistics.

Changelog:

Version 0.7.7

  • Add a global shortcut to toggle traffic plotters.

  • Find the interface of the default gateway again. (BR 328752)

  • Log statistics to the correct time if we're resuming from suspend. (BR 332086)

  • Fix translation word puzzles, missing contexts. (BR 329095, BR 329097)

  • Add an include to fix broken compilation when using libnl >= 3.2.26.

  • LicenseGPL

    Hello,

Could you please add the function to auto change the display network traffic unit (K->M)?
In text mode, when the traffic is more than 1MB, it will become invisible due to the font size changes to too small. If knemo can change the unit to display in MB, it would be better.

    Thanks.

You could add to the program?

Yes, I'm willing to add these to KNemo. Do you have SVG versions available?

     Traffic plotter issue

The knemo traffic plotter is a must use for me. However it consumes a lot of space on screen. The graph takes only 35% of the vertical space of the window as space is left on top and bottom.
Kindly shift the lengend and close button to the right. Actually the close button is not required at all. We can press close icon on title bar. You can even make the window title bar less so that space can be saved. Any thoughts .....

I'll look into it, but my concern at the moment is whether or not these suggestions would comply with the KDE HIG.

The Network Monitor desktop widget could get you what you want right now.

    Hi,
Can I remove the Network caption of the desktop applet?
Can I use it like a floating window on top of other windows so that I can have constant view of it?
If that's the case then my problems are solved.
Thanks for your quick reply. Knemo has been a great tool. Why is it not part of the standard kde install? I have to install it by searching the rpm always.

    Wrong cmake command line.
    I wrote:

Then I deleted the last option (-DCMAKE...) and the compilation worked fine.

    Thanks for your concern. Regards

Possibly. KNemo doesn't store interface statistics by default.

Go in the config dialog and look in the "Statistics" tab for each interface whose statistics you want to store. Is "Activate statistics" checked?

You will also want to make sure that you have the Qt4 sqlite3 backend installed. On Debian / Ubuntu it's the libqt4-sql-sqlite package.

Statistics is ticked, and I have lots of billing periods and notifications set too, but every restart the totals for billing period, month, year etc start from scratch.

I don't have a qt4 specific version of sqlite on Arch, just sqlite. Seems strange to me that you'd even need a db library for a gui toolkit.
