KNemo offers a network monitor similar to the one found in Windows. For every network interface it displays an icon in the systray. It can also optionally montor traffic statistics.

Log statistics to the correct time if we're resuming from suspend. (BR 332086)

what about l10n it to kyrgyz? i translated two template files and using it. where i can send po files?

about the reported problem of autostart fail in kde 3.4...

i want create a script to load the sistem tray icon automaticaly.. i tried "kcmshell kcm_knemo", but it opens the configuration window too.

Which command may I use to load only sistem tray icon ?

This is a nice tool.
It would be handy if KNemo could keep a rolling total of bandwidth used that didn't get reset when the interface goes up/down, but could be reset manually. This would help for those of us who have to pay if we go over a monthly bandwidth usage cap.

Statistics are on my TODO for a long time... but you know, sometimes you can not force yourself to code on something when you don't have the feeling to do so. That's the reason why there was no update to KNemo since last autumn.

The other thing that keeps me from doing work on KNemo is that Gentoo still doesn't have KDE 3.4 as stable packets. But maybe that is just a lame excuse...

Hi,

tools like ifplugd can do this job already very well. I am also using it on my laptop in combination with KNemo. It checks whether a cable is plugged in and if yes it automatically starts the interface. And KNemo will detect this and popup in the systray.

I'm having one onboard ethernet connection and one removable D-Link G650+ card for the wireless stuff. Could Your suggestion also work with my configuration? If Yes, could You give me some clues on how to do it?

Hi!!

Firstly... great great app! One of the best for KDE.
But recently, i am having problems initialising it... all i can give to you is this error:

kio (KIOConnection): ERROR: Header read failed, errno=104
kio (KIOConnection): ERROR: Header has invalid size (-1)

Does this say something to you? I have to start it manually in kcontrolcenter...

I've discovered the reason. I don't know why, but with transparency support switched on, knemo does not start correctly at kde init. I've tested it with kde-3.4.2 and kde 3.5_beta1. I have to init knemo manually in order to have the icon in the kicker. But in the service session manager, knemo appears running.

Hi. Nice app!
Q: Will knemo tell you your connection speed for a DSL modem (dsl0)? I ask because the connection speed for my ethernet should read 100Mbs but it looks like it's calculating speed rather than reading what it is from /proc. I don't have my DSL modem yet and would like to know if it'll tell me if it's 2M connection or whatever.
S: I read that you use it in conjunction with ifupd. It would be nice if when the connection is dropped, you were notified before the icon disappeared, like "(Alias) has lost connection" or something.

Hi,

no it doesn't take the speed from /proc but instead calculates it regularly like you can see it in many download/transfer dialogs.

You can set up a notification when the connection gets lost using the standard KDE notification mechanism i.e. KNemo can show a popup, play a sound or even run a certain program.

Well, this is a pretty static information. I think there is no need to monitor this via KNemo. Once you installed your DSL and took a look under /proc (I must admit, I don't know where to find this information there by now) you have it and it won't change for the future.

So I think this is no good candidate to monitor with KNemo.
