Description:

audiokonverter is a service menu (and also a commandline utility) to easily convert from MP3, OGG, AMR, AAC, M4A, FLAC, WMA, RealAudio, Musepack, Wavpack, WAV and movies to MP3, OGG, M4A, WAV and FLAC in Konqueror by right-clicking on them. It needs ffmpeg/avconv, oggenc, oggdec, faac, faad, flac, mplayer and lame to work. id3lib is optional for full functionality. Also optional are vorbis-tools and metaflac for handling other metadata. See README how/where to get that software.
Be sure about needed software when installing prebuilt packages!

Please vote for "good" if you like the program. There are many downloads with each release, but only a few votes.

Changelog:

fix for ogg decoding

LicenseGPL
(Tarball)
Ubuntu(for kubuntu (KDE4))
SUSE(from Packman)
Debian(built with checkinstall for KDE3)
other(generic RPM for KDE residing in /usr for KDE3)

I really like the new addon services for video. They're very useful. This kservicemenu continues to be one of best, and that's saying a lot consider how fantastic most of them are. Well done lad.

I'd like to use it in dolphin, but I'm not sure quite where to put all the files.

Please try adding this line to install.sh in the last block with similar lines:

install -m 644 $DESKTOPFILES $PREFIX/share/apps/dolphin/servicemenus/

If it works, I can add it to the release.

Well, it put the desktop files in /usr/share/apps/dolphin/servicemenus, but it doesn't seem to have any effect.

Ok, when I copied the 2 .desktop files over to ~/.kde/share/apps/d3lphin/servicemenus , then it works. Thanks!

This is one of the best apps ever. I use it all the time to digitize my music collect, as I use an Ark Linux / Amarok computer as a juke box / Multimedia center.

Thanks lad!

 documentation?

I wish there was more support for it besides that small README. I use FC9, installed all the required files before installing this app, and it doesn't work with either gnome or KDE for me. With just the little bit in the README that came with the file, I've got no earthly idea why not.

I am sorry to hear that.
First, it will not work in GNOME, this is kde-apps.
Second, I don't have any idea what else to write into the documentation. I guess you installed it for yourself, but .kde/bin is not in your PATH in FC9. When installing globally, install.sh finds out the path of kde by kde-config and installs audiokonverter there. Then it will enrich your service menu as audiokonverter is a service menu.
There is a mail address in the README, not without a reason. Use it. I cannot test on all distributions, sorry. And if people do not complain, I cannot improve audiokonverter.
