Description:

audiokonverter is a service menu (and also a commandline utility) to easily convert from MP3, OGG, AMR, AAC, M4A, FLAC, WMA, RealAudio, Musepack, Wavpack, WAV and movies to MP3, OGG, M4A, WAV and FLAC in Konqueror by right-clicking on them. It needs ffmpeg/avconv, oggenc, oggdec, faac, faad, flac, mplayer and lame to work. id3lib is optional for full functionality. Also optional are vorbis-tools and metaflac for handling other metadata. See README how/where to get that software.
Be sure about needed software when installing prebuilt packages!

Please vote for "good" if you like the program. There are many downloads with each release, but only a few votes.

Changelog:

fix for ogg decoding

 hey!

Hi!
At last I decided to compile faac and I've got MP4 support but when I tried to convert a mp3 file to m4a for iPod I obtain this message:

kdialog: Falta '[startDir]'.
kdialog: Use --help para obtener una lista de las opciones disponibles en la línea de comandos.
[user1@Aida ~]$ audioconvert -t a /home/gerardo/dj.mp3
kdialog: Falta '[startDir]'.
kdialog: Use --help para obtener una lista de las opciones disponibles en la línea de comandos.

# Now converting: /home/user1/dj.mp3

ID3v2 found. Be aware that the ID3 tag is currently lost when transcoding.
input: /home/gerardo/dj.mp3 (44.1 kHz, 2 channels, MPEG-1 Layer III)
output: (16 bit, Microsoft WAVE)
skipping initial 1105 samples (encoder+decoder delay)
Frame# 6/12735 128 kbps L R Freeware Advanced Audio Coder
FAAC 1.24

Frame# 17/12735 128 kbps L R Couldn't create output file //dj.aac

I think it should be a path problem :S

Thanks for your help ;)

Definitely a path problem. When I do this, I get a dialog to choose the output path. Which one do you choose, or don't you get the dialog? Which KDE version do you have? Try to edit .kde/share/config/kwerc encdir=/home/user1 decdir=/home/user1 Right now I am pretty clueless about "startDir". Looks like kdialog is being started in a dir which it doesn't like.

My encdir was empty. It begins to work when I put the path in it.

Thanks, I really love this app.
Nice job!

This is a very handy bit of code work. Thanks a lot. May I make a request to add Musepack encoding as an option? I'd really love to have that....

Your lack of belief in the truth does not alter the fact that it is still true.

Please try Perl Audio Converter for an overloaded service menu. I want to keep mine limited to the main formats.

KDE 3.2.x is minimum, not a recommendation in any way. Also works with KDE 3.5 and will probably work with KDE 4 as well.

 problems...

Kubuntu 6.06, kde 3.5.3. I have some problems installing the required mppdec,apetag,id3tag,id3cp,id3info...I downloaded the source code of both mppdec and apetag but it seems like in both cases the "configure" file is missing, or else they need a strange way to compile or install which is not specified in the README..for the id3stuff they're not in my repos...but i guess i have something similar...donnotknow more :( Help needed... I'd really like to try the full options of this nice utility!

Hi,
there's no need to compile mppdec and mppenc. After unzipping the archives, you have to set the binaries (mppenc and mppdec) executable, move them into your $PATH, et voila.
Unpack apetag, change into the resulting library and type make. Move the resulting apetag binary somewhere in your $PATH and you're done
