Description:

audiokonverter is a service menu (and also a commandline utility) to easily convert from MP3, OGG, AMR, AAC, M4A, FLAC, WMA, RealAudio, Musepack, Wavpack, WAV and movies to MP3, OGG, M4A, WAV and FLAC in Konqueror by right-clicking on them. It needs ffmpeg/avconv, oggenc, oggdec, faac, faad, flac, mplayer and lame to work. id3lib is optional for full functionality. Also optional are vorbis-tools and metaflac for handling other metadata. See README how/where to get that software.
Be sure about needed software when installing prebuilt packages!

Please vote for "good" if you like the program. There are many downloads with each release, but only a few votes.

Changelog:

fix for ogg decoding

LicenseGPL
(Tarball)
Ubuntu(for kubuntu (KDE4))
SUSE(from Packman)
Debian(built with checkinstall for KDE3)
other(generic RPM for KDE residing in /usr for KDE3)

 Preserve directories

by nicodietrich on: Nov 6 2005

Score 50%

Your tool looks quite nice!

Unfortunately it does not preserve the directory structure correctly:

Assuming a directory ~/ogg/artists/albums/tracks.ogg

I want to convert all oggs to mp3s. Applying audioconvert on ~/ogg/ and saving to ~/mp3/ gives me ~/ogg/mp3/convertedtracks.mp3 and cuts out the artists/albums directories.

If this problem would be solved, this tool could be a choice for mass-converting audio files.

Thanks,
Nico

Thanks for fixing this!

Unfortunately, there's still a small bug, which makes audioconvert only usable with absolute paths from the command line:
When using relative paths, line 606 tries to enter further down in the directory tree than it is possible.

your install works nicely, but it doesn't do dependencies (id3 libs). is it possible to make it as deb? you can talk with pusling so he can put it in his repos http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=29317

You can also request him to include it. :-) I would support it if needed.

Thank you for making this! I recently switched back to linux and had acquired some wma files from a friend and have been trying to find a tool to convert them to ogg. I had actually given up for the time being and stumbled upon this, thank you!!

I know Labrum in RL, so i know he has a son called Linus. As you can see on his homepage his baby looks quite similar to his avatar.

OOOhh I thought you said he was YOUR son. Ok now I'm clear. Either way that is the most adorable picture I've seen in a long time of a baby laughing.

I love children, I get such a laugh out of them. Excellent choice of an avatar.

Thanks for the answer!

I guess you have to ask someone in a Mandriva forum if you do not want to compile some packages from source.
