Description:

audiokonverter is a service menu (and also a commandline utility) to easily convert from MP3, OGG, AMR, AAC, M4A, FLAC, WMA, RealAudio, Musepack, Wavpack, WAV and movies to MP3, OGG, M4A, WAV and FLAC in Konqueror by right-clicking on them. It needs ffmpeg/avconv, oggenc, oggdec, faac, faad, flac, mplayer and lame to work. id3lib is optional for full functionality. Also optional are vorbis-tools and metaflac for handling other metadata. See README how/where to get that software.
Be sure about needed software when installing prebuilt packages!

Please vote for "good" if you like the program. There are many downloads with each release, but only a few votes.

 wma and ra

I suppose I should not mention that you can use mplayer to read .wma and .ra and convert them?

Something like..

for i in *.wma ; do mplayer -vo null -vc dummy -af resample=44100 -ao pcm -waveheader $i && lame -m s audiodump.wav -o "`basename "$i" .wma`.mp3"; done

Maybe you want to contact zast for this. He already did wma to mp3/ogg in content=19789. So maybe he can also add ra to mp3/ogg, so I don't have to duplicate his work.

Great job, I really like this little app. It just converted one of my most favourite songs which was 7.3 MB in MP3 to 3.7 MB in OGG, and still crystal clear sound. Simply awesome!

 convert images

Hi, I suggest you make your menu more similiar (identic?) to the convert images that already exist in kde.

that is, rightclick on any audio file, select "actions -> convert to ->" and then choose a filetype.

that's how I'd like it, a well used and common interface.

how well do this work with id3/ogg metadata?

I will think about presenting menu entries without source data type. By changing to this method it is easy to break stuff.
Following meta data are kept: artist, title, album, year, comment, tracknumber. Genre would mean too much effort for too little importance.

I see in the new screenshot that the menues are as I prefer them, would asking for lowercase letters be too much? (make the system identical to image-convert menues =)

I must stress also, that genre is important, at least for me. perhaps a simple implementation that copies the genrestring as a string to those formats that support it, and drops it for the rest? (or perhaps even better, a list of the mp3 genre ID's and ag with copy from id->string upon conversion?)

There are so many image convert menus, I don't know which one you mean. As AAC, FLAC and MP3 are abbreviations, uppercase makes sense. Kim also uses uppercase for TIF, GIF etc.

So you send me a translation list for ID3V1, V2 and ogg metadata and I will add this genre translation.

Great, I'll start looking for that list. The image menu I mean is the default one in kde3.4.

where do I send the list? (I'll send you a screenshot of the standard menu as well, so you can see how it's done with images by default)

 include in kde3.5?

I don't know how "well" the code is written, but is there any chance that it could get included in kde in the same manner as the image-conversion is? and is it possible for this to, perhaps at compile-time, check for the tools, and only enable the functionality that is possible with the installed tools / selected by the user?

this is an interesting thing that is needed in kde.

 Include shorten?

by mtwnet on: Jun 26 2005

Score 50%

This is a fantastic little app. However, it still needs support for shorten (shn) in order to be fully complete, in my opinion. Every time there's a new release I wind up adding the code to handle SHN files, although I only add what I need (SHN -> WAV, I'm too lazy to do SHN -> MP3 too).

I was unable to get the shn component working with konqueror 3.4/3.4.1 and kwavencoder 3.3. Why not roll it all into the one app?

Do you have the binary installed?
I don't do all in one app because shorten and other formats are exotic. 99% of all people end up with useless service menus because they don't have the binaries installed.

Please redownload it in case you tried to install by clicking install.sh. There used to be a bug in that script.

 Wording and addon...

Can you please change the wording to;

Convert to Mono?
Yes|No

Your wording now is very difficult for people that don't read english well.

Also, can you add where it will tag OGG files transcoded from FLAC. Next, can you turn on REPLAYGAIN on the encoders that support it.

I cannot change it to "convert to mono?" because the default is always "Yes"! I complained to the KDE developers, but they did not change it up to now. To make it easier I can only skip this possibility. "Keep stereo" is inadequate in case of mono files. Idea?

Which one can do replaygain? In lame it looks turned on by default.
