Description:

audiokonverter is a service menu (and also a commandline utility) to easily convert from MP3, OGG, AMR, AAC, M4A, FLAC, WMA, RealAudio, Musepack, Wavpack, WAV and movies to MP3, OGG, M4A, WAV and FLAC in Konqueror by right-clicking on them. It needs ffmpeg/avconv, oggenc, oggdec, faac, faad, flac, mplayer and lame to work. id3lib is optional for full functionality. Also optional are vorbis-tools and metaflac for handling other metadata. See README how/where to get that software.
Be sure about needed software when installing prebuilt packages!

Please vote for "good" if you like the program. There are many downloads with each release, but only a few votes.

Changelog:

fix for ogg decoding

 installKDE4 for openSuse

by ramso on: Mar 23 2009

I detect a problem with the paths for opensuse with kde4. The correct path for kde4 is /usr/share/kde4. I modify the option --suseinstall with this
"--suseinstall" )
mkdir -p /usr/share/kde4/services/ServiceMenus/
mkdir -p /usr/share/kde4/share/mimelnk/audio/
mkdir -p /usr/share/kde4/bin/
install -m 644 $DESKTOPFILES /usr/share/kde4/services/ServiceMenus/
install -m 644 $MIMEFILES /usr/share/kde4/share/mimelnk/audio/
install -m 755 $SCRIPTS /usr/share/kde4/bin/
exit 0
;;
This work perfect in openSuse 11.1 with KDE4.2.1

Where did you do this? At the very end?

What does "kde4-config --prefix" say?

 does not work for me

I'm on openSUSE 11.1 and it does not work for me at all.

I do get the possibility to convert in the Dolphin menu ,but nothing happens.

It also looks as it can handle only single file conversion and not batch conversion of a number of files in a number of directories? Is that a correct assumption?

How did you install it? I guess you are missing helper programs because you installed some rpm.

It can even convert directory trees.

Thanx for the reply!

I Installed it from the Pacman repository as linked in the KDE-apps section. I can run conversions with other tools.

It might be that there is something wrong with my PATH: /home/birger/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/bin/X11:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/games:/opt/kde3/bin:/usr/lib/jvm/jre/bin:/usr/lib/mit/bin:/usr/lib/mit/sbin

Should there not be something about ls /usr/share/kde4/bin/ in the path? At least is that where the audioconvert is installed.

So you could choose a file, but the spaces in the file name caused problems? Normally they don't. I don't know why it does not work on your system.

Anybody else using it on OpenSuse 11.1?

Yes, I could chose the file in the GUI.

Don't worry to much. I'm now running the old KDE3 soundKonverter and it seems to work well.

The two program teams should consider working together as the goal seems the same. Maybe review each others code or something similar.

Thanks for taking time to look at it

The script is the same.
Only the installation in KDE differs due to changes in KDE.

Now I installed Opensuse on another HD. There are a lot of differences which I am beginning to realize. Also the opensuse rpm did not add kdialog from KDE4 as dependency, which makes it hard to operate. Hopefully 5.8.2 fixes a lot of these issues.
I cannot test on all distributions. :-(

Thanks!
It's sad that the distributions differ so much....

Is there anything that can be addressed towards openSUSE? I have been doing volunteer testing for openSUSE so I'll be glad to address any issues that might make it easier to support openSUSE.

Please download and unpack the current tarball and try:
sudo ./installKDE4.sh --suseinstall

I already mailed the opensuse maintainer. I will test his package.

 Me again :)

Hello, because I switched from kubuntu I couldn't get the error message mentioned in my previous post but it was probably a packaging problem.

Anyway I'm using SuSE with KDE 4.3x at this time and missed your very handy utility. Because the SuSE rpm is old and you note only *8.2 should be used with KDE 4x, I tried to install it from the .gz package. install.sh doesn't work. Activating it in terminal as regular user "./install.sh" brings up a dialog asking install or uninstall options. I click install. A message box labeled "Sorry - KDE su" then appears at this point with this exact message:
"Command './install.sh --global' not found"

Do you know how to fix this or provide an up to date rpm for use w/KDE 4x?

Then try "xhost +" before. This will allow anyone to connect to your Xserver. "xhost +<your ip>" will allow anyone on your computer.

Well I should probably look into xhost stuff before messing around with that, but I'd rather not. I did a bit of searching and may be mistaken but it's just that it should be kdesu not kdesudo. kdesu brings up the authorization box, then the dialog menu to install/uninstall. Selecting install globally yeilds the same error as reported before when doing the same as normal user: "A message box labeled "Sorry - KDE su" then appears at this point with this exact message:
"Command './install.sh --global' not found"" Or if it "should" be kdesudo, SuSE doesn't have kdesu/kdesudo set up the way the script expects?

It has to be installed as normal user and it works, although it complains about mppdec, id3info,id3v2,id3cp and apetag. This is for Kubuntu 9.10

I added a package for karmic koala. The programs it complains about add functionality, but it also works without them. My package will not resolve dependencies so far!

Works great on Kubuntu (Karmic and previously). Thanks for your contribution to making the free desktop more usable.
