Description:

!!!Important update!!

I've always thought we're all here open-minded and kind people. Seems like I was wrong.

Today I've received a letter from a man called Yassen Pavlov smack@vip.bg with the following text:

"I just wanted to let you know that I can't believe what an bitch you are. You asked for the guy who was maintaining the project you abandoned to give you admin rights and you never showed up again since he did so. Not even once... Thank you very much for that. I hope you'll die from cancer."

Well thanks a lot Yassen, this is what I actually need right now being a young mom with a little kid on my hands. See now, I'm here, are you happy?

OK, now to the point. I've switched to MacOS completely and have no platform to develop and test this script. It was a good experience and it was fun. I actually did not ever expected it would be such a success. But now I have to pass it over to somebody who wants to continue this development.
Please contact me jinjiru at jinjiru dot com if you want to take this project to your hands.

Mount ISO Image is an advanced script which allows to perform multiple operations with ISO, NRG (Nero Burning ROM), UDF (DVD), CUE/BIN, CCD/IMG/SUB (CloneCD), XDVDFS (XBOX) and MDF images.
Mount/unmount operations can be performed in two different ways: using kdesu or sudo. During the installation you'll be offered to choose a variant to use.
Note: If you prefer to use sudo, you should first choose to "Setup sudo config" in installation menu.

Translations
------------
- German (by Markus Bloch)
- Italian (by marcosegato)
- Russian (by Jinjiru)
- Serbian (by Mladen Pejaković)
- Spanish (by Javier Ariza Rodríguez & Alberto Garcia)
- Turkish (by Atilla Öntaş)

If you submit translations, please, send them within the utf-8 text file to prevent encoding mistakes! All non utf translations will not be considered!

Bugs and translations
----
I really need your help with translations and feature requests - please send them pejakm at gmail dot com. If you sent any translations or suggestions some time ago - please resend them!
If you find any errors please do not hesitate to report them. If you have any suggestions or want to contribute in any manner - you're always welcome!

Important Notice!!!

Since this project appears to be abandoned, administrators have gave moderation control over this project to me, pejakm. I intend to continue and to improve this script as good as I can. If the original authors decide to continue their work I will happily give them this back.

Your kde action is one of the more usefull I seen. In association with kiso, we have finally a start replacement for good windows apps like winiso or daemon tools. Thank you for your work.

To be honest I don't like to compare Mount ISO with windows apps - just because we're using linux, not Windows. And I don't want to combine with Kiso - these are two different strategies.

Actually, guys, I don't understand your desire to combine Mount ISO and Kiso. These are two different strategies. I don't like to open a whole application to simply mount iso image - i prefer just clicking on it and choose action. I don't like wasting my time when i can make just two clicks. There's no use for me to open Kiso when i just want to create iso image from folder or when i want to work with it as with a simple folder. That is why I will not combine my project with Kiso - just because i can't see any use of this combination.

hmmm, yeah, you're right. well, I didnt really mean you should start kiso for this, but for example - it whould be nice if this came with kiso (it has an contextmenu with lesser features now, afaik, not sure) and could be configured from kiso ("activate context-menu" in settings or whatever?). but of course this maybe whould be more for the distro's to do - simply add both packages to their KDE installations ;-)

anyway, thanks for the work!!!

Hi,

this is all great but i was already able to convert .BIN images to .ISO.

My only problem is Alcohol 120% images. How can i convert these? It doesn't run in WINE and i haven't been able to find a Linux utility for this.

If anyone could add support for this you'd owe me -and i suspect many other Linux users as well- one!

Could you please tell me, what's the file extension of the Alcohol images? There is no clear indication of this at the app's website, so I need your cooperation to see if we can implement said feature.

Hi, I can answer to this question.

The Alcohol 120% images files use 2 files
foo.mdf - The iso file
foo.mds - Small file (500 bytes) that contains informations about the file image (like protection type for copy protected images so they can be mounted as if it was the original CD (usefull for securom4.x)). It's a kind of cue file but with more informations

Chag

Ah, well, that's what I feared... I dug deep into Google queries but, sadly, haven't found any info on how we can mount (or for at least convert) MDF/MDS files without using Windows - oh, well.

In the past I have often wondered why this function wasn't integrated into Konqueror. I can't even guess how many times I've typed "mount -o loop ...".

And now, I wasn't even looking for this (just browsing this site) I come across this tool, excellent!!! Thank you very very much.

That's exactly how we felt before starting this project: "mount -o loop", "unmount" etc - and now it is just one right-click away!
Thank you for your kind words, this is what makes us release new versions with even more cool features!

Seems like there is some weird KDE configuration that SuSE uses... Surprisingly enough, my work machine is SuSE as well (9.0 though) - and everything's fine there.

However, I would like you to start "konsole" and type the following command:

kde-config --userpath desktop

Could you please mail me the output of this command (or reply to this comment and paste it here)?

I tried to install it as normal user.
Now it mounts without any probs on my Desktop. But i can't umount it :

ERROR: Unmounting "/home/seppdaruler/Desktop/Mount-ISO (test.iso)" failed! Check if some programs are using it, close them and try again.

I have no idea why.

When i installed it as root he tried to mount the iso on :

/home/seppdaruler/opt/kde3/

I've encountered this warning on SuSE, too. Do you, by chance, have the konqueror window with ~/Desktop/Mount-ISO (test.iso)? Because if this is the case, SuSE won't allow you to unmount a volume that is being accessed by some application. Close the window and try to unmount by clicking a folder on your Desktop or ISO-image itself.

You're describing system-wide installation by root, but did you try to install by normal user? Does it work as expected or fails with the same error?
